Question about brass rim width

So I was de priming some brass the other day and came across a 44 mag that wouldnt fit in my shell holder. All the same, shot fine, no ballooning and no burrs. Think its remington. Anyone come across this? 3 fit perfect. One was a little snug and the other no go at all. Think its a Lee shell holder that came in the die set....I threw that piece of brass out.

The same thing happens with 38 special when I reload it. Usually I can give it a twist and get it in the shell holder.

Try rotating 90 degrees. I have seen this when the rim is slightly bent. I usually toss those in the scrap/hobby project pile. Shell holders typically have enough slop to handle variations in rim thickness.

Can you throw your calipers on them to reference dimensions?

As a totally random though, is it possible the loads were hot enough to extrude the brass? Any chance the primer was partially popped out from firing?

Good point. Possibly the base of the cylinder and not the rim.

Are you shooting 44 out of a glock?

I second turning the brass. I have seen it while loading rimmed ammo, but also occasionally when loading rimless. Turning it almost always takes care of it.

Here you go...pics of rim width and case width.
Primer is still recessed. Thinking bent rim as other rim width on good case is 12.97. Negligible difference.
