Question on safe storage law wrt muzzle loaders

I searched on this site and on the web in general, but was unable to find an answer so hoping some one here can help

I understand that in transporting my rifles from PA to my camp in upstate NY, I need to have them secured in locked hard sided cases out of sight If I leave vehicle unattended. ( Being old with an enlarged prostate I am bound to make one stop.)

My question is does this apply to muzzle loading rifles? Information on DEC and other web sites seem to use terms “guns” rather than firearms, so it is unclear to me.

I'd say locked hard case muzzle loader or not. Most important (to me) is out of site/out of mind. In home or in the truck, that's always been my philosophy be it a long guns of any flavor, or pistols. Just my $0.02

I would say yes because now they changed the definition of a firearm and muzzle loaders now need a background check in NYS.
