Quote feature

Hello there,
Need some help with this. When I try to quote a post it shows the ( - ) sign when I click quote. When I try to place it in my message I get a "oops we ran into problems" and beneath it says " no message was selected ".

so its not just me with this issue now .. i been waiting to see .. i just blamed it on my PC lol .. @HEX

Me is on a desktop using Chrome browser ..

even if click and select part of a post and select Quote .. go to insert quote .. get the oppps too ..

Using safari. Another issue is that at times it takes a couple of attempts to post something while other times works normal?

I'd have to look into this a bit further to have a more complete grasp, but just off the top of my head I believe that the quote/multi-quote system functions by setting a client side cookie storing the quote and then sending the command to delete that cookie when the 'quote messages' button is clicked in the window that pops up with the quotes after you click on 'insert quotes'. (or when you uncheck the quote by clicking again on the +/- quote in the post)

So, if I'm correct about that (and I'm mostly sorta kinda sure), then if your browser isn't accepting cookies from the site or something is messed up with them, then what you've described would probably happen because the site wouldn't have the cookie to read from. The first thing I would suggest is clearing your cookies, and if that doesn't solve it then figure out if your browser maybe either isn't accepting cookies (from us, or in general) /or/ isn't allowing the site to read from the cookie.

Since it isn't happening to everyone, I'm inclined to think it's a your end thing regarding the client side cookies.
I'm purely speculating here, but I can imagine a possibility in which if there were some interruption of the commands from server to client in the process of deletion of this client side 'quote cookie', maybe it could cause a problem until cookies were cleared.. maybe.

test i just did ..

I selected the 2nd paragraph in your post above .. get the buttons +quote and Reply ..

click quote ,, added .. go to insert quotes button .. click .. opppppps error no message selected ..

now if do the same and click the reply .. boom 2nd paragraph ends up inserted for the new post

i haven't messed with any cookie settings on the PC .. this issue just showed up .. all was working fine here for the night .. go to bed then work and came home and got on here and then the quotes was giving errors ..

also just noticed from your post i was selecting from .. it had a -quote button .. ummm.. clicked it .. removed from multi quote pop up showed up

Yeah , that all makes sense along the same lines that either your browser isn't accepting the quote cookie or isn't allowing the site to then read it.
I'm fairly certain the Reply option doesn't use a cookie. Your browser is definitely accepting some normal cookies or you wouldn't be able to stay logged in across page changes and such. Did you try just clearing all cookies first ? Likely either the browser is storing a mucked up one and needs to be cleared, or it's blocking certain cookies (which you should be able to fix in settings).

yep .. it was a spoiled cookie LOL .. cleared the cookie for the site in the browser and quote's working again .

@HEX My wife’s website was having a ton of issues for months where customers would get caught in an endless loop when trying to log in. Very frustrating - I fielded more calls than I care to remember from people who I walked through browser clearing and restart - surprisingly difficult for some people. Worked for a while but got worse over time. Nothing worse than having a system that frustrates your customers.

We got so frustrated we finally reached out to her CRM provider who knew the problem came from sharing 3rd party session cookies. Apparently all the popular browsers released security updates that required some fine tuning on our end.

Google chrome however still does not work with her website hosting provider (Wix) at all with no resolve date in sight. Apparently the chrome security around session cookies is the most restrictive of the major browsers - Safari and the others work fine. Wife considering moving to another provider but rebuilding her site will take time.

I hope this helps. I’m no web expert but if you need more info I’m happy to pass along what I know that may help you figure it out.

I didn't reset anything and this morning it works
