Rabid Raccoon... F’n 2nd one this summer!

Tonight, Letting the puppy out tonight, rabid raccoon charges me and I close door in it’s face. Puppy is at end of 100ft run barking his head off. Raccoon drunkenly wanders off deck, and puppy comes running into house. I grab my 380 and can’t get safe shot...
Last month, 8:00pm, another Raccoon is staggering and foaming at mouth wanders into garage as I’m working on car, shit, grab 22lr only have cheap target round nose, 8 shots later the thing decides to final fall over...moving up to 9mm carry on property and by the back door...be careful out there!

I hope your dog has its shots.

If you can kill any of those bastards, make sure you get it tested if there is a chance you or the dogs get exposed to its blood or saliva.

how do you know its Rabid .. ?? its out at night .. normal .. they do walk and run funny .. maybe he/she just ate some fermented fruit cake from the trash ..
there called trash bandits for a reasion .. lol ..

they can be real assholes at times and all healthy , and can make for awesome pet too..


i do really hate when someones tosses up the word Rabid ... you don't know till you kill it and they test it ..

how do you know its Rabid ..

The first one was tested and came back positive, So I am assuming this one is also, you only have a very very short window to test the brain, as the virus dies extremely fast after host death.

If your dogs DO get involved with a possibly rabid animal - it's good to get them a rabies booster shot even if their current shots are up to date. Been there, done that with a couple of my dogs years ago.

No good can come from that. See if you can get rabies vaccine bait and spread it around your property. Sometimes the NYSDOH will come and set it out for you.

Rabies is prevalent everywhere - brain disease - animals catch it from Liberals.

Ive only had one rabid animal here on the property, one cat 4 or 5 years ago on Christmas eve. There was no reason to test that cat, if its end stage rabies, its abundantly clear what it is. Scared the shit out of me as I almost stepped on it coming from one of the outbuildings to the house. I have had several run in with bats in the house, and the County Health Dept takes that stuff VERY seriously if you have small children, so far as to threaten to have the sheriff come over for me and the bats i had killed for testing. Something about the strain of rabies bats carry is much easier for people to contract than the fox/coon strains.

Too many coon's around here. If the rabies finds its' way into their community it will be dangerous out there. Used to be a healthy business for their pelt's, but from what I have learned the anti-fur idiots have killed the market so no one is hunting and trapping them.
