range bag structure..

Mods if this isn't the correct area for this topic, please let me know.

Does anyone have any pointers for adding structure or rigidity to a basic range duffel bag? I have a super basic "Free NRA Range Bag". While its definately bottom end, it works for me. However I'd like to add some structure to it, or some sort of insert that can better organize the contents.

Look for a thick piece of corrugated plastic. Should stiffen it up a bit. You may want to glue it down to the inside of the bag so the bottom stays stiff.

Before sinking any money into a cheapo set up consider one of these. Not too expensive and takes a beating. Got this as a gift 3 years ago and still looks like new after heavy use. Very well made.

The "Free NRA bag" I use for transporting my work shit. It also pisses off liberals.

Not to be "that guy" but here's some pointers from someone who uses a range bag more than most people.

Dont go "cheap" on the range bag. Seriously. Get yourself quality gear. There's no reason to cheap out on something you will use often.
I know $$ is tight for everyone but if this is important to you, then buy good shit.

Midway USA has some good lower priced range bags that work great.
MidwayUSA AR-15 Tactical Range Bag Olive Drab there's a great one for $70 right there.

Also,... here's a suggestion. Get a bag that can actually hold everything you need, but not too big of a bag that tempts you to fill it with more than you need. The bigger my range bags are the heavier they are.
What do i NEED in the bag?
Room for some pistols, ear pro, eye pro, MED KIT with TQ, Chest seals, gauze, bandages, and a booboo kit. (this is a MUST in ever range bag), batteries, spare belt, pen/marker, water, stapler or adhesive spray, tool/repair kit, cleaning kit. Just a few of the things that SHOULD be on hand.

Ammo I usually keep in an ammo can or other non-range bag to keep the weight and stress on the bag down.

As @OnSight Firearms Training points out get a good bag! I have had the Midway USA bag for about a dozen years now (they do put them on sale often!) granted it is not a square as it was when I got it but it has held-up well even overloaded.
