Range Day - 1/3/22

A early and quick range day, early enough to be alone, for the first 2 hours. Today was a Savage Mk II Minimalist day, I brought all 3.

I shot only the Federal bulk range pack (blue box) ammo.

All of them shot fine, I did have a feeding issue with one of the 10 shot mags, I have, either a weak or broken spring. Replaced the mag, shot without further issues. I seem have great luck with Savages, except for my B22 FV-SR, all of my Mk IIs are excellent shooters.

The Federal ammo shot flawlessly.

I was leaving as 3 young ladies were coming in the shoot their 9 mms. All in all a great time at the range, my only complaint was the 6 phone calls I got, as part of my consultation gig with the company and 1 call about my vehicle warranty lapsing.

Savage Mk2 rifles are great.

I'm not a fan of the ten shot mags. I prefer the flush seated five rounds magazines. More comfortable IMO and 100% reliable.

If you load the bad mag, with 10 rounds, the first 8 rounds shoot perfectly the last 2 rounds, are loose in the mag, not enough spring pressure to lift them rounds up to the correct height. I’m not a 5 round mag guy, I need to shoot 10 shots per target, the last thing I want to do is have to change mags half way through.
