Range time

I picked up a Ruger American Rimfire in 22 mag yesterday. My LGS ordered it by mistake so I told Mary I would buy it if it is still here on the 30th, it was so it went home with me. It is the shorter barreled version with the threaded barrel. I already have the longer barreled version and a Ruger 10/22 magnum so it is a perfect fit. So off to the range I go probably going to launch lead for 5 hours or so, already took some Aleve to prevent the soreness and stiffness that will be coming with a long day at the range.

Just got back, what a long day. Got some business done and got some shooting in all in all a good day.

No unfortunately I normally don't take cameras to the range nor do I post pics of guns.

All my club officers showed up so we prepared the club house for the winter, discussed the contractor for a roof over the firing line and getting a concrete pad placed on the firing line for our disabled members.

We also discussed having a monthly shoot, we are looking at a rifle steel shoot, black powder cartridge steel shoot, a pistol bowling pin shoot and a rimfire rifle shoot in addition to our summer scoped rifle and military rifle leagues. Apple seed is discussing two shoots at our range in 2017 so hopefully we will get a lot of interest to keep the ball rolling.

Yeah I wish all my meetings included range time. I would love going to work.

Launched another 100+ rounds down range today. Did some chrono work today.
The results of my 300 blackout load (110 grain ZMAX, 19.1 grains of IMR4227, CCI small Rifle primer, mixed cases) out of three different 16 inch barreled rifles suprized me.
The Ruger American Ranch average velocity was 2186 FPS
The other two were AR type averaged 2188 FPS and 2175 FPS.
I figured the bolt action would be a little higher than the semis.

I also fired a couple of 1911 45s over the chrono too, a 5 inch Springfield and a 3 1/2 inch colt 1991, the load was 200 grain LSWC over 6.8 grains of unique and CCI large pistol primer in mixed cases.
The 5 inch average was 881 FPS and the 3 1/2 inch average was 805 FPS.

I tested some factory loads out of 2 of my 308s and one of my loads from one of my 223s.

All velocities were measured 15 feet off the muzzle.
