Recommendations for a CCW that is 9mm, 10 rd capacity, but very compact and easy to hide.

I am looking for another decent concealed carry pistol. Honestly, the smaller the better. That said, i want it in 9mm, and max rounds, at 10. I already have a Ruger EC9, a Taurus G2C, a Glock 43X, and i just got a Beretta APX Carry, all in 9mm. I also have a Walther PPK, and Glock 42, but they are in .380.

I am interested in hearing anyones suggestions, and reasons why, for a new pocket, sub compact, or compact pistol in 9mm only,and i want it to have 10 round capacity. The smaller the better.

I was looking at the Sig 365, the Hellcat too, but most are 12 to 13 rounders and not for me. I was even considering the SCCY DVG-1, too. That one comes with 3 ten round mags, as well. I have never fired, or held any SCCY, and do not know much about, other than they are very cheap.

Speaking of cheap, or budget, i dont really have one. That said, i dont want to spend more money on something, just cause its more expensive, and nothing else. I am fine with something as cheap as $300, and up to $900, but i would need to know why i am paying $900, and the options and reasons it is that price. Or on the flip, if something is cheap, like a SCCY, does that cheap price come with a trade off, or quality, etc.

Thanks in advance. I am innundated with so many options in compact, pocket, sub, 9mm with 10rds, that my head is spinning. Thats why i wanted to hear some thoughts and ideas from you all.

If I had to do it over I would have started with a Glock 48. Maybe a Glock 43x.

If not then a p365xl.

My go to EDC when I care about size and not printing or for when I have to wear something that's hard to carry with I EDC a Walther PPS M2.

Yes typically cheap= lesser quality.

There are good "values" out there where you can buy a good quality reliable gun for a reasonable price. Stick to solid reputable manufacturers and you're good.

Yep, thats why i was looking at it, like i said. The Hellcat typically has the higher round mags, there are 10s for it, but a bit harder to find, i noticed.

If you really like a shield plus get one for yourself.

Having 2 identical guns in the house isn't a bad thing. You can each carry it at the same time.

In SHTF you have mag comparability, and if one breaks you can canabalize the other for parts to keep one of them functioning.

Yeah, it sucks. First thing, i say "my wife", but we are not married technically. Idk if that makes a difference, just putting it out there. She had her New Jersey FID before me, and bought a bunch of pistols each with her pistol permit. At that time i only had my NY permit, so even though we bought those pistols "together", nothing was in my name though.

In our minds, once i started living in NJ, i would then get my own Jersey FID, and in turn put those pistols she already bought, into BOTH our names. Well, i did get, and have my NJ FID, and when we spoke to our FFL and owner of where we buy most of our stuff, and asked him what we needed to do to have me now be co owner. His answer was NOPE, can only do that with the AR 15s you got, and any other long guns and shotguns, but NOT the pistols.

Now, i wonder this, if can we buy a pistol together and put both our names on the pistol permit? Then, in turn be co owners of said pistol, lol? Prob not. Btw, i am talking about Jersey specifically.


Anyway, back on topic, i dont want to de rail my own thread. Any Sig 365 owners, how is the trigger? Trigger pull heavy or light? Also, is it a good pistol for smaller hands too?

Can she sell you one of the pistols for $1, then just "forget" to remove it from her permit ?

Where I lived in NY there was nothing to it.

When I got my first pistol from my uncle we just went to the county clerks office with the make/model/serial information and had them add it to my permit. I think it cost $3. I'm pretty sure it's still on his permit to this day.

What size gun can you reasonably conceal carry well for your body type and carry preferences? I can conceal carry well a full size USP45 and Ruger GP100 with 6 inch barrel. I don’t like too because they are big bulky guns and they are not that comfortable to do. I tend to go with Glock 48 as it has a combination of grip size/design that is comfortable for my hand plus it has the barrel size and 10 round capacity I like.

You have a very valid point. Might be the way to go actually. The only guns we both have identical 1 each of, is the Henry AR-7s survival rifles. In fact, i did that for the sole reason of having them, a few 8 rounder mags, and boxes of .22lr sitting in each of mine and hers main bug out bags, Why not apply that same mentality to the handguns too, right.

Springfield Armory Inc does not make any of the XD guns or the hellcat. You are just paying something like a 300% markup for a gun that was barely considered subpar at its pre SAI imported price and is honestly garbage compared to any other comparable gun that other companies would market as "duty" grade.

As for the hellcat I don't even care to see how it's holding up (also not made by Springfield Armory Inc) because SAI is just a garbage company to begin with... fuck them

If you're looking for something a little different

The Beretta APX compact is interesting. (if not then just go with a g26) like the g26 can take g19 mags the APX compact can also take larger mags and there are spacers to fill in the gap giving you more options.

Took another class with @OnSight Firearms Training tonight. Learned a very valuable lesson. Get the biggest gun you can carry. I recently purchased a Glock 43X MOS because it felt really good in my hand and is pretty easy for me to conceal. At the class tonight I was able to shoot more accurately with Rachels gun, a Walther PDP F Series. I even did better with a G19. Now, it isn't like I won't be able to shoot the 43X MOS well with practice but there is a much bigger learning curve IMHO with a smaller gun. Instead of buying something solely based on feel and concealability I should have gone with a bigger heavier gun that still felt good and would be concealable. My 2 cents FWIW. Hey @Celt, I might have a G43X MOS if you are interested.

I have a G26.

I like it a lot, but I find myself carrying my LCP far more often because it is far easier to carry.

For everything other than ease of carrying though the 26 is way better.

When/If the time needs it, I'd rather have that. When my life, or the life of someone else depends on it, I'd rather have the gun I shoot best.

So for the past two years I have been carry a bigger gun. Full size. With the right holster, you can conceal a bigger gun.

If you are disciplined enough to always carry that gun it's a better solution.

If you are prone to say "I'm just working in the yard, I won't bother". Then "well, I just need run to the store quick, I'm not going back inside to arm up". Then you're better off with something like the LCP you just drop in your pocket every time you put on pants.


An LCP in your pocket beats anything sitting in your safe if SHTF.
