Reloading .25 ACP

Anyone took the plunge?

Now with my new .25ACP member of the family, mulling over the ammo prices, I'm thinking about loading for her.

Heard VERY mixed responses about this.

Pros:
1Lb of powder will last nearly indefinitely, as the standard charge is around 1Gr.
Save big bucks.
Straight walled pistol case, so it's easy.

Cons:
Big fat sausage fingers fumble tiny components.
Bullets are harder to find.
Starting charge and Max are nearly the same.


Ideas?

Give it a shot. If its too much of a PITA, you're not out a whole lot.

I also suffer from sausage fingers. A lot of times I'll use tweezers or hemostats to handle small stuff.

No experience with that caliber. My biggest concern would be the powder charge. Like you stated the min and max charge are very close together. So make sure your scale is properly calibrated. That low of a charge is pretty low on most scales range sometimes when you push the edges or a scales operating range you can get some error. Therefore I would look at buying a check weight close to you charge weight as you can find.

My second thought, once again you already touched upon it is bullets. I don't know if this round works well with lead or coated bullets or if they require a fmj. On top of that where do you find them and how much. You might have to venture into casting if you can't find a commercial bullet.
