It's brass denting is hit and miss from rifle to rifle but still common. My 300blk dents brass but the 556 doesn't. The BLK in fact makes dents on the case mouth exactly like the brass in this thread. But it does it extremely consistently and the casings land very close to each other. So at the least I know the rifle is performing consistently. It would be foolish to start messing with it at this point even if it's overgassing. I have too many guns to ever shoot any of them to the point of ruin.

Even if you buy pricey new Lapua brass, chances are there are few cases in the box with dented mouth.

It depends on one's goals. How much time and effort one is willing to spend on developing perfect ejection, which may never come. One can do that or one can focus on shooting skills or other shooting pursuits.

While I usually agree if it ain't broke don't fix it, installing an adjustable gas block is a breeze. It's worth a try and creates no permanent changes. You can always go back to a standard block.

I put together the upper, so I guess you could say I have a stake in the game. I like problem solving. My background is making muzzleloaders from scratch and even after many rifles and fowling guns I run into problems, mechanical, design, and mother nature in all her mercy can vex me to no end with a beautiful yet problematic piece of wood.
I will get a block that has defined adjustments and enjoy the process of coordinating it, the buffer spring and the proposed load I will be using.
I understand that semi-auto's can be hard on brass but I can be like a hound on a gut wagon in solving what I perceive to be a solvable problem. I appreciate and respect your thoughts and opinions but in the end I believe this is something that can be made better and I will attempt to do just that.
