Reminder to check your permit recertification

For those that snuck in with a recertification before the last unconstitutional barrage of stupidity 3 years ago please check your due date. I recertified at that time and still have a screen shot of my recertification stating it was good for 5 years. The gestapo at the SP changed it with no notification from 5 years to 3 years. While stuck here we need to keep playing their games!

Figured I'd do mine since my license updated recently with new info. Submitted it. No problems. Good to 2028. Instantly came back good.

Even NYS doesn’t know when I have to recertify? They must not have updated since the 5 years went to 3 but it won’t let me recertify now, even though I should be able to if it expires this year.

NEw law made it every three years so no matter what everyone went to three years after the CCIA BS.

Correct, but to change expiration dates after the fact of ones recertification and without any notice is the big problem.

Their site said I did not have a semiautomatic rifle license, but I do, so I changed that.

This is not a "new law" or "new rule change" anymore lol. This was changed from every 5 years to 3 years for recertifications literally two years ago. For two years, people have had to update their old recertification dates. I remember so many talking about how they didn't need to worry about it because "I'm good for another 5 years still". Now it seems some realize that was not the case.

There is a permit holder I personally know that hasn't bought a gun in long time and they still have their paper permit from a very, very long time ago.

When Orange County switched to plastic from paper I was in line at clerk’s office behind a guy who had 93 guns on his license. He knew where everything was stored and what was going to which grandchild.

Just do the re-cert. I wouldn't worry about it too much. It would be great if NY went on and said that you will be denied your constitutional right because you didn't pay the vig in time. That would be priceless and a game changer. Even anti gun people after this Presidential election could see the slippery slope of constitutional rights eroding if you hadn't the means to pay.

My county prints the renewal date on the back of the PP. Mine is up for renewal in July of this year, though, I'll probably renew a bit sooner just to play it safe. Though, unless you ask them to reprint your PP you need to keep track of it.

Honestly, it really shouldn't be an issue for the state to email each PP holder a month of two before they are due for renewal. Other entities do it all the time with customers. Just add an email to list of required info. Hell, even an automated phone call could suffice.

I received an email regarding renewing a vehicle registration this week, so the state can obviously do it.
