Remington 700 LTR Trigger Question.

Hi guys, I bought a Remington 700 LTR chambered in .308 on Thanksgiving as an early Christmas present to myself. I just recently mounted a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x40 (30mm maintube) using Weaver 6-hole tactical rings and used a Warne 1-piece steel tactical scope base and I'm loving the set-up so far. The rifle came equipped with Remington's 40X trigger, my question is how doe's it compare to Remington's X-Mark Pro trigger being better or worse. I'm not too picky, and don't need a super fancy trigger but was looking to maybe upgrade to something like a Timney trigger down the road.

I'm both a big Warne and Leupold fan-nice scope! I have a Rem 700 SPS (the Buckmasters limited edition camo stock 30-06 Sprg). Love the rifle. Has the X-Mark Pro adjustable. Factory set @ 3.5 lbs out of the box. Zero complaints. NO creep and only a hint of over travel.

I bought a Rem 700 ADL Synthetic .243 Win on sale a few years back, that I bought basically for the barreled action. It's sort of a budget project gun. So far I've removed the cheap included scope, rings and bases, and replaced them with Warne Maxima bases (M902/876M) and Warne Maxima low matte rings (200M) along with a Leupold VX-1 2-7x33 scope (it's main purpose woods deer/coyote rifle). Also bought the Remington matte black steel ADL trigger guard. I'm considering replacing the factory X-Mark Pro (non-adjustable) trigger with the Timney #510THIN trigger, and one of these days a Boyd's stock.

You're welcome, of course. As an experienced shooter, bottom line for me was very satisfied with the X-Mark Pro (adjustable) on the 30-06 as is, so not worth the $100+ to replace it with the Timney. Not 100% in love with the 'gunsmith-adjustable' version on the .243...it's heavy at over 5 lbs, although no creep and little over travel. You actually can adjust it, IF you want to scrape away the factory-applied sealant from the Allen head adjusting screw, which is recessed in a tiny hole. Not exactly convenient (on purpose I'm certain). The Timney is easily tuned to your liking.

Ok, sweet. I looked up a few aftermarket Rem. 700 triggers and the only ones that caught my eye that I liked where the Timney triggers.

Timney is the way to go. Some older BDL's were recalled with the original triggers.

Just gotta save up a few bucks before ordering the Timney trigger.

The only possible "fly in the ointment" is, if you read the reviews, some people have had to remove some stock material due to the greater width of the Timney trigger assembly. Just an FYI

I like that kinda good news. Don't wanna have to grind away at the steel trigger guard I bought to make room for it. Takes the wind outta your sails when you're excited about finally receiving and ready to install an upgrade and you run into a hassle.

my 22-250 was from the 60s, i had to inlet a little wood so the safety would work easily. it took about 5 minutes! (to measure twice and chisel once)

That, and making sure the bolt release works freely.
