With the reputation Remington has earned for hit or miss quality, hardly surprising.
That'd be great actually. Henry makes a quality product but I, and many others, absoloutely hate tube loading. Marlin could be their in to side gate loading. I'd absolutely buy a side loading Henry rifle, in whichever capacity it was marketed.

Yes, the cowboys had a point -- you can hide behind a rock and (re)load the side gate, while a tube loader makes us expose ourselves like muzzleloaders did. For home defense the side-loader wins.
The issues I have with tube loading is I don't like having to put my hand near the muzzle and the major thing is if the dongle thing comes loose you end up shooting the thing downrange. Which I have done, its very embarassing.
Side gate is so much simpler and convenient.
Acquiring Marlin would be an excellent way for Henry to expand outside their ultra traditional cowboy gun schtick.

I don't think Remington is going anywhere. They'll be bought out, move all their productions lines to Alabama and continue to make most of the same products that they do today. Quality will be anyone's guess. For the record I adore my Model 700 but it's an older one (made in the 1970s) and not a new one.

Support Remington and bring them out of bankruptcy. Lets all say FUAC and go out and buy a new Bushmaster.
Why support Remington, it's their hit or miss almost always shit quality, and horribly out dated business practice especially for a gun company as to why they are in the shit they are in.
So again why should I go out and spend my hard earned money on some bolt action rifle or pump act8on shotgun that is going be of meh quality or a 1911 that is going to be of shit quality (even for low grade 1911 standards)
And didn't Remington side with FUAC when offered the teeniest of bribes?
I own...4? Remingtons. Really enjoy them. Would not buy anything else by them. Not out of hatred, but they just make junk now.
No idea about the FUAC but ever since the 700 fiascos their quality has been junk so I'd buy old REM but nothing new, and again it' their own fault for failing so I'm not going to waste my money helping them

I have 4 Remington 700’s in different calibers. I have never had any problems with any of them. I would definitely buy another one if the need arises.

I have an 870 and a 700 that I really love, but they are older models and have not had all of the issues that the newer crap they are releasing with the Remington name has.

If you're going to buy Remington, go to gun shows and buy used. Better price and better quality even if it's 30 plus years old or more.
Remington’s problem is the Freedom Group. They purchased a lot of small manufacturers loaded up on debt. Everything was running well enough to maintain profitability, then market fell off after the 2016 elections. They will shed off all the small companies then come out of chapter 11 stronger than ever.

Yeah, that's my biggest concern. I was planning on buying one of the new Marlins. So I wonder what this is going to mean?
It seems kind of crazy that Remington is going to be going out of business, they have been around forever.
