Im not surprised after seeing the Rem 870 my buddy bought last year for $350. The quality control was abysmal.
So glad I bought the Mossy 500 with 2 barrels for over $100 less brand new.

Anyone else find it interesting that a tribe wants to buy this? While everyone else is crying for reparations, they seek revenge? IDK, but i'm actually more of a revenge guy. For them, maybe the reparation is taking their land back.

When I was sending resumes and looking for a good position in CNY / Mowhawk Valley area, I sent several off to Remington. After being here a few years all I can say is THANK GOD THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK. That company is a train wreck in slow motion. I've spoken to so many people who used to work there and all said the same basic things. Layoffs, furloughs, RIF's, and firings are annual events. The talented, hard working and conscientious people burn out and leave, and the ones who have been there a long time are professionally incompetent but politically brilliant. It's always "the other guy's fault" and upper management can't or won't see it. Retooling is "too expensive" so nothing new is ever done, but they cut costs by removing half the light bulbs from fixtures. Quality control is hit or miss and returns and RMA's are a constant and massive drain. I've had this discussion at least 15 times and it's always the same. If they're going bankrupt, there's a good part of the reason why.

You are right and the first thing for a manufacturer is to make things people actually want to buy.
Remington had great talent at some point but it has been the victim of horrible management for so many years following the same trend of Xerox,
Kodak and other NY dinosarurs. They should have fired marketing, new product development and the executive team a long time ago even before the marlin takeover. They should have also moved away from NY decades ago. NY is not a friendly for for any type of business big or small, and even less for a firearms manufacturing company.
There are so many things they started between the bad ideas and the ones that were good ideas (like the 6.8) that they didn't follow through
with them, they basically destroyed the company and its reputation.
There is no reason why they should not have a next gen remington 700 action for the masses but instead Bergara got the remington 700 blue
print and took it to the next level making the best R700 action rifle with features and materials only found in high end rifles that cost $3-5k but
for a budget the working men can afford. That was supposed to be Remington. That is how they started like savage.

I bought my Remlin 1895 two years ago, I looked and researched for awhile. It was a toss up between the Henry and Remilin, I love side gate and I hate tube feed. so I went with the Remlin. I must have got lucky, it is superb in QC and drives tack at 50 yards with Alaskan sites, I might have to go with a scope soon, my eyes are getting weak

I have a Henry .357mag and a .22lr. both shoot better then I can and yeah I get the eye thing!

I have an 870 Wingmaster made in 1961, it is spotless and very, very well made. The wood looks better than most antique furniture and the bluing is still spectacular.....looks like a mirror finish. I dont use it much....Iguess its a safe queen. A buddy offered my $1000 but I declined. I originally thought it was a 1951 but doing research changed that to 1961. Fantastic gun

Literally the public is buying anything that somewhat goes bang and despite that Remington can’t stay in business? I’m pretty sure I could build some Home Depot single shot slam fire shotguns and the public would pay a premium for them. I could offer a gun that punches you in the nuts every time you shoot it and the public would buy every single one right now.
