Does Remington mfg their own ammo components; specifically their 115gr FMJ RN bullets?
I'm having trouble finding published data, specifically C.O.L with their bullets. That's why I'm inquiring if they're made by a third like Speer for example.
Why do you need their C.O.L. specifically? Any C.O.L. of 115gr ball will do.
I measured some winchester white box ball ammo for a reference and noticed that the catridge OAL of the whitebox was about .0015" more than the relaods I made using the Remington bullet. I also noticed that the Remington bullet is less tapered that the Winchester bullet. I am assuming this may account for the shorter overall length. I know SAAMI spec calls for a min OAL of 1.100" and I believe a maximum of 1.169". I am new to reloading and the various ball ammo specifications from various manufacturers vary wildly. I was hoping to dial in my Square Deal B bullet seating die. Using the seating die as is from the factory using Remington FMJ RN bullets yielded a COL of 1.145 +/-.005. I shot 10 reloads from my HKVP9 and they shot fine. So that's the "short" answer to why I'm asking.
Thanks for the link.Honestly trying to copy factory loads is OK as a starting point but you may not be fully understanding why you get to a specific COL. Here is a great write up from the CZ Forum. It's written for CZ's but can be applied to any pistol/barrel. How to Determine Max OAL for a CZ Pistol
