Oneida - Herkimer County SCOPE meeting reminder: January 14th @ 7:00 p.m.
We expect a great turnout for this month's meeting because something is happening in Oneida County that many folks have been asking for.
If you have a restricted pistol permit issued in Oneida County there is now a process in place to demonstrate your safe gun handling ability and to request that the restrictions be removed. Ron Sutfin, a local SCOPE member and FFL has worked with Dan Sullivan and Judge Dwyer to develop a training class that can be taken to start the process to remove the restrictions.
Ron will be our guest speaker at Monday's meeting being held at the American Legion Post 229, at 400 Herkimer Rd. in Utica. His co-instructor, Chris Woodcock may also be able to come. Together they will describe the process and give guidance to those interested.
I participated in their first class on December 23 and have submitted my request at the Pistol Permit office. I can give a first hand account as well.
If you or someone you know would like to explore having restrictions removed from your pistol permit, come on by.
Also, bring your cell phones if you would like to learn how to Tweet. Last month we had a lively discussion about staying in touch with our elected officials by Tweeting them. My theory is that if you're smart enough to get the phone to work, there might be hope for you yet. (My picture is in the dictionary next to the word incompetent, so expect some humor about technology). You should have access to your email on the phone.
So stop on by and pick up that T shirt you were hoping for for Christmas!
Regards,
Bob
