Rensselaer County peeps -- some permit info please

I have a great-nephew moving back to NY from CO. He intends to settle in the county and wants to get his permit.

Any information anyone can share on the ease / difficulty or any "how to's" unique to Rensselaer county that I can pass along would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what the wait times are now as I got my permit in 2015. At that time , it was 4-5 weeks from start to finish but I can't imagine its that fast now-a-days. I'm not sure of the circumstances surrounding his choice to move to this communist stronghold, but at least he chose a relatively pro 2 amendment, red county with a county executive who cannot stand FUKH and company . Amendments are fairly quick compared to others. Mailing them in takes about a week, give or take. If you drop them off, sometimes they'll go see if the judge will sign off on it right there, depending on your judge. When I acquired mine, the process was get application, complete all required info including staying on top of your selected references to complete their paperwork, get fingerprinted at the sheriffs department. submit application, then wait. That was my experience at that time anyways. I'm sure things have changed drastically since then but I do know its one of the better and easier counties to obtain your CCL.
