Ok. What would legalization accomplish? This is the question that never gets answered. Drugs cause too many problems... so legalize them? Makes no sense.

It would eliminate the black market.

90% of the problems are from the black market, not the drugs themselves.

If I'm correct .... heroin is processed, (by cooking?), in a lab. Like cocaine?
Where an herb is just harvested. I could very well be wrong. I have no interest in any of it.
My only interest is in the cbd oil in cannabis for it's healing properties. Ever notice the term ''health care'' is always used instead of ''cure''?
So .... yes. If you look at cannabis that way as it's cbd/thc properties, it is a drug.

First, I respect your view, so do not think I am being hostile, but the drug itself (like "the gun") is not the issue it is the person who chooses or is genetically predisposed to become addicted, peel back the curtain and get a handle on the depth of the problem for society.

Having marijuana a Schedule 1 drug is retarded and incorrect as to the medical role, refined sugar actually fits the definition of a Schedule 1 drug better than marijuana (mind you, I do not, nor ever have, ingested/smoked weed).

Tobacco will kill over 500,000 Americans annually and yet still be subsidized by tax payers to grow, obesity may well be overtaking tobacco deaths and yet our buddy, refined sugar, is still able to be purchased by kids old enough to stumble into a corner store--(not that I believe in banning sugar either) so there is some serious insanity going on, you ask "what would it accomplish," I say it cannot get much worse.

I agree in regards to weed. It shouldn’t be considered a drug at all. It’s basically legal in most states now anyway. The Fed just won’t get on bored.

I disagree. Maybe 90% of drug arrests are related to sale/distribution, but the relevant crime to my statements - that which affects the law-abiding - is committed by users either in their drug induced state or to get money to buy more. Legal or not, it won’t be free. As seen in Colorado and other states where weed is legal, it actually becomes more expensive.

Heroin users are not productive workers. They will still be fueling their habit via illegal means.

That is the difficult part of the riddle, I agree with your assessment, but philosophically I am not comfortable with big government regulating this stuff.
