Republicans Push to Defund PBS After ‘Sesame Street’ Pride Month Post: ‘Grooming Children on American Taxpayers’ Dime’​

PBS stands accused of “grooming” children after Sesame Street, one of the nonprofit TV network’s premier programs, shared a social media post hailing LGBTQ Pride Month that drew an immediate response from a group of Congressional Republicans.


On both X and Instagram, the Sesame Street pages shared a graphic of multi-colored puppets reaching out so that they resembled the colors of an LGBTQ Pride flag.

“On our street, everyone is welcome. Together, let’s build a world where every person and family feels loved and respected for who they are. Happy Pride Month,” they said.

My children watched Sesame st in the early 1970's..................they automatically recognized bad information spoken by the human presenters.............they had not seen black persons before. I had to explain them to the kids.

Both grew up conservative.

They should be looking to take it over.

We can't just abandon academia and the kids it's educating.

While they are grossly over funded, we need to do more than just cut them off.

We need to reclaim them. We need the next generation of kids to understand the dangers of collectivism, and to champion rugged individualism.

They need to know how to work as a team, but also that that means that people aren't interchangeable. Not everyone is a quarterback, but the linebackers are important too.

Personally academia should be about education. Reading, writing, math, and now I guess computers and technology. The problem comes in when anyone political agendas are put into the mix. If it’s a public school all do belong there and no one conservative or liberal should impart their views on these kids.
Now to your point. Is it ok to teach kids about things that have been tried and failed, absolutely. Communism, socialism, collectivism all tried and failed so I agree with you but stick to facts and figures with examples.
The problem with all this stuff now is it is only one-sided and for the most part only liberal values imparted on people. At my work they want us to volunteer at pride events this weekend and bring your kids. Hell no that will never happen. It’s mine and my wife’s anniversary of over 20 years and if anyone’s getting my attention it will be her. This crap comes from all angles and it’s in your face constantly today. Go to my kids school for open house, pride posters, talk to the teachers pride pins and lanyards, you can’t escape it. And they wonder why more people identify as that mix of people. When I was in school in the late 90’s there was one kid people thought was gay and he wouldn’t admit it. Now many say they are gay or trans. Trans? What was that when I was growing up because I never heard the term. This is all a social construct and trans’ing the kids is the goal.
I can tell you almost every kid that I know that has come out as trans the parent support them 100% and convert instantly. I know a few who have left my conservative church over this and some you’d never expect it from. I see it on social media where not a peep about trans then their kid converts and bam that’s all they talk about. It’s all on purpose. Oh not to mention almost everyone I know that has transitioned has some sort of problem. Many are autistic or have mental health issues. I know a family who sent their daughter to in patient care recently and now the counselor has her convinced she’s a boy. She had some of these thoughts prior such as liking girls and kissing a few but now wants to change her name, cut her hair, and get boys clothes. These parents rightly said nope. This poor girl is a mess because of issues related to her biological parents using alcohol and drugs while pregnant. Her parents now are her adopted parents and they are heartbroken and devastated. This girl can’t shower without being told but they will let her make decisions on her gender. Sad, really sad world we live in.

It's very difficult to teach history without putting a spin on it.

And we absolutely do need to teach the history of Communism / Marxism.

That philosophy very alluring to a lot of people who don't know the history.
