RIA Lion X4 barrel pitting/flaking

So I bought this just as a fun gun. I wasn't expecting it to be amazing especially for the price. It's a Rock Island Armory Likn X4 semi-auto. It was around $300. It's actually pretty cool, fun to shoot. The trigger is definitely on the heavy side. It has a shell selector switch, 4 chokes. One of them is an extended "muzzle brake" or external turkey style choke. I've been running slugs through it at the indoor range. Probably only about 50-60 rounds. I'm getting a weird pitting or flaking in the barrel. It's never been in wet weather. I cleaned it well before shooting. Has anyone ever seen anything like this. I hear their customer service is pretty good so I'll have to call and see what they say.

Are you sure it's not plastic buildup from the wads ? That's what it looks like to me. I would try to clean it before I called the company. Get yourself a turbo brush and a can of shotgun cleaner. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE CAN.

And do this outside, over cardboard. That spray CAN AND DOES MELT PLASTIC. Watch where you spray it !

Might be worth a shot. I did go back and check with a long handled plastic pick and it seems to actually drop down into the grooves and check marks in the barrel. Some of them aren't visible in the pics. I did find a post from someone with a RIA VR80? with the same problem shooting only slugs. They replaced the barrel, same problem again. He replaced the barrel again and stuck to shot only with no trouble after.

After closer examination of your pics, I'm convinced it's a combination of plastic and lead.

So, I'm an idiot and was catching the pick on the gas ports. Definitely going to have to try out the spray
