My deer rifle is a Mossberg Patriot Revere in .308 with a 24" barrel and a Leupold 3-9 x 40mm. The published rifle weight is 7 lbs., but I think that is incorrect. It weighs more like 7-1/2 lbs. The published scope weight is 11.2 ozs. I just weighed my rifle and scope with 5 rounds in the magazine and a sling attached and the total weight is 8 lbs. 8 ozs. I went with Leupold because they are so lightweight. By comparison my Bushnell 3-9 x40 AR scope with side focus weighs 1 lb. 3 ozs.
Hi, I am looking for a new scope for a rifle of mine, the rifle is 8 pounds, and I was wondering how heavy of scope I would be able to put on it. With the heavier scopes that I am looking at, I get more features than a very lightweight scope. What is the heaviest gun you would be willing to carry through the whitetail woods for an hour or two?
Thanks, Tucker
