Question . where is the schematic of the ECM in your auto .. where can you buy one .. to fix it ..
we used to have schematics on Tube TV's back in the day .. so we can fix our own ..

If we don’t have a right to repair they will t release the part to the public. I have a Subaru and the washer blades are deer only part, freaking wiper blades. The transmission is sealed and only the dealers will touch it.
My Acura if you disconnect the battery there is a code that needs to be entered or you can do nothing other than start the car. It will not move out of park if you don’t enter the code. This bill says that code no longer needs to be provided so every repair that requires you to disconnect the car battery will eventually need to be done at a dealer. Great.
Also keep in mind they say they care about the environment and wouldn’t replacing single components be better than replacing the entire assembly for the environment?

Never like missing an opportunity to say FUKH and boy does she give us plenty of opportunities. 
You can still get the parts as parts... This will only allow the OEM to try and gouge the market, which wont work. Secondary markets already exist, if anything, the law validates you ability to fix it yourself. But the last minute change, is irresponsible and unexplainable... I would look to see if there was a hefty donation made since or watch for one coming by maybe Apple or Samsung... lol

From what I've read it only applies to stuff made after July 1st next year so the stuff we currently own isn't included thanks to the wicked witch of the east.

Apple has been having there chip makers only sell to them .. nothing to the public .. so you have to find a donor phone or laptop and depending
on if the chip is serialized to that donor item it won't work in any other item or will actually disable other parts of the device ..
this has been a Apple practice for years ..
