Getting? Rochester's poor zips are a complete write off. There has been a stabbing or shooting most nights there for as long as I can remember. I wish WHEC would stop even bothering to report them. "Police respond to shooting on" oh who gives a fuck? Certainly none of the people that live there could give any less of a shit about this. How do I know? Because the last time there was a protest about the killing of a black person it was only when a white person did it. Same as the protest before that and the one before that. Not a peep out of BLM.

Rochester gets a bad rep but although I’ve been there several times for as long as a week, I haven’t felt that unsafe. Shady areas, sure, but not really like the hood. I’ve been to South Side Chicago with my ex, we got the hell out when we realized our mistake. Detroit is worse. I go straight through, no stopping, or loop around. If I have to actually stop in Detroit for a load (rare) there are security guards, and I always make sure to be extra nice, just so I have them on my side a little bit extra...for whatever a rent-a-cop is worth.

Once I move up there, I can also go stealth mode in my beat ass old Civic. Beater cars FTMFW.

He started his own business selling articles to newspapers as a junior at Cornell. Eight years later, he was a partner at his first newspaper. He would send suggestions to the newsroom, but wouldn't use his flex to force them to print stories. He believed in collecting and reporting new stories organically.

Yep. And it's absolutely despicable that they did. But in doing so, they demonstrated the very need to keep the information private.

I'm pretty sure that Frank Gannett wouldn't even recognize his own company today. The empire that he built over a lifetime has been destroyed in just a few short years by poor management and identity politics.

GOOD NEWS: the shooting's are getting closer to home

Last night, in the WalMart Super store on Hudson Ave, a ½ miles from the house, one dead, and three shot.

This city is getting more and more dangerous, the good news is, we are only 3 months from leaving NY

There’s a huge difference between those areas and Rochester for sure. The shootings and murders in the cities you’re comparing to are exponentially higher.

My sense from watching videos of incidents over the past year or so is precisely that. It seems that POC instantly respond negatively and/or with hostility to any interaction with the police. This is a direct result of the propaganda that "all cops are bastards" or (my favorite) there is a "genocide" against black people by the police.

This doesn't mean that chauvin was correct to put his knee on floyd. But it does mean the chances of every interaction to go south and result in violence has increased tremendously. Which means cops are going to do less in high crime areas because they know the politicians and press will throw them under the bus regardless of the actual truth of the matter.

I sincerely doubt the vast majority of people in high crime areas like the result. But until they start voting for different leaders I don't expect anything to change.

If you're a democrat you desperately *need* to create that division. It's where your power derives from.

The worst thing you can do for a majority minority neighborhood is to pump it full of criminals. But that's exactly what they do, then they tell the people living there that their neighborhood is a shithole because the Republicans are oppressing them.

No, your neighborhood is a shithole because it's full of criminals that the Democrats *put* there. Let the Republicans lock them up and you can have a nice place to live.
