Ruger 22/45 or Browning Buckmark

Thoughts? I am looking to get a .22lr pistol and I had my sights set on the 22/45. The one with the threaded barrel and the rails on it(Ruger® Mark IV™ 22/45™ Tactical Rimfire Pistol Models). I can get one for around $400 up here.

I saw that the Buckmarks are $300-320. No threaded barrel option though. All I see is one with a bull barrel or just a regular config. Never really had any hands on with the Buckmarks.

Anyone have an experience with the Buckmarks?

I think the threaded barrels are a no go according to the new definitions in the SAFE act.

I went with the Ruger MKIV when I bought my latest 22 pistol, the takedown system has been reworked and it is much nicer.

Yeah I had the same question about the SAFE act in my head about the threads. My brother in law got one a few months ago but maybe because he is law enforcement it doesn't apply to him.

That is the difference, the government trusts him and not you.

I prefer the 22/45 and now with the MK4 it is even better.

I think you'll prefer that new Mark IV. Field stripping is a breeze now and there's a ton of aftermarket support for the product.

Check out the S&W Victory as well. I really like mine but have not shot any others to compare it to.
$350ish.

The 22/45 is a pretty decent gun but compared to the older models it doesn’t stand up. I shot on an indoor league for 11 years using the bulled barrel MKII. Aside from the PITA takedown issues it was an extremely accurate gun. This is my target .22 now.
Buckmark URX it is a very accurate gun!

I too have a Ruger MKII (Tapered barrel, my second pistol) fun to shoot! Then after the Un-Safe Act passed I bought a Browning Buckmark like @S&W Fan, though I got the 7.25" barrel and just love the accuracy of it! And just flipping the trigger spring you can lighten up the trigger!

I've got the same Buckmark and like it a lot. By flipping the sear spring, polishing anything that moves, I got the trigger pull down to 2 pounds even. Its more accurate than I am.

That is correct. It’s an easy trigger mod that will reduce the trigger pull to around 2 1/2 -3 lbs.

Pull it out, flip it over. Put it back in.

Look up Heggis flip. There are a bunch of how-to's out there.

may be wrong on this but isn't there a recall on the new Ruger's . bought a S&W victory 1500 rounds no real problems more accurate than i can hold real easy to take down or change barrels

Decided to go with the Ruger. Just stopped by the gun shop and ordered a mark IV 22/45 bull barrel with the polymer lower. $330. Should be in on Wednesday.

Read about the recall When i get the serial number later tonight i will check to see the manufacture date. If it is before June 2017 I will be mindful of the safety (should go without saying though) until I send it out. I would imagine it is made after that date though.

I must have passed over 160 rounds through the thing today. IIenjoyed every shot. I really need to work on the trigger though. Worse then a factory Glock trigger.

I will start working on it and perfect it. By this time next month it should be set up well.

I have shot them all, and i still like the ruger the best because of the CRAZY amount or Aftermarket parts. you can slowly build an awesome gun.
HOWEVER, you Must put more money into it before its good. the other are better out of the box.
