Ruger American Rifle

Hi,I have a Ruger American rifle bolt action 223/556. I’m having a little of trouble trying to get a round from the magazine into the chamber I have to really push hard on the bolt. I read somewhere that it’s probably the magazine to file the sharp edges down and load some dummy rounds until it operates smoothly as anyone else had this issue. Thank you, John.

Were you using hand loads or hand made dummy rounds? If so maybe the cartridge overall length was little too long?

They are factory 556 I believe American Eagle overall length is 2.260. The dummy rounds I bought just a chamber the gun for practice are 2.060 and they feed fine

Well you’re probably right about the mags. If the rifle takes AR mags try a few different manufacturers to see if you can narrow it down.
