Sent my American Compact slide to Ruger for a safety recall. I have one with the original stainless barrels, and they have switched to a new melonited barrel, simple swap. They say they will try to turnaround within 7 days. Today is 11 days since they received it. I know, not long, but I just recently had the slide milled for a red dot, and am anxious to get it zeroed in. I was hoping to have it back by this weekend. Oh well, I'm just sitting here bored and complaining. Perhaps they are taking the extra time and having the slide re nitrided because of the milling. I suppose that would make me a happy camper. Ok end of my complaining.

I get the whole anxiousness thing. But seriously, the timing of your submission didn't play into your expectation? I'd be giving Ruger a pass on this complaint.

You are correct, I sent it to them about a week before the shtf. That's how my luck goes.

Years ago, I bought a used GP100 from Gander while working there.

Beyond fantastic deal. The date code is from 1986, I paid a whopping $225 for it. I figured a really good, deep cleaning was in order.

I took the entire gun apart; for some reason, I could not get it to work right after re-ensemble.

I contacted Ruger, explained what was going on, they said send it in they would see what they could do.

About three weeks later, I got the gun back... Holy shit, it was like a brand new gun.

They replaced the cylinder, the worn wood grips and the hammer. They said that had a slight bend to it. They polished it up shiny as all all.

I would have never know the gun was from the 80"s. They did all that for free.

They might. Maybe that is why they are past the week mark. Fingers crossed.

I have had great experiences with Ruger Customer Service. Last issue was asking for help with a Ruger SP101 .22. DA pull was just too much for the Mrs. at around 13#'s. Gun came back from Ruger with an 11# super smooth trigger. Cost me nothing more than shipping. On a negative note, the gunsmith that worked on the gun left me a personal message with his cell # in the box to call if we had any future problems. Somehow I lost his note/number as the years went by. Uggggggghhhhhh

I sent in my pc carbine after I ruined it. They fixed it, cleaned it and refinished a few parts for free. It took a week or so but it was well worth the wait especially since it was my fault.

Had an issue with one of Mini-14's several years ago. Sent it in and they wound up sending me a brand new gun! Big fan of Ruger, their products and customer service from there on out.

I bought a sr22 damn thing wouldn’t run for shit. I sent it back to them and they sent me a laundry list of parts they replaced. Essentially I got the frame back and everything else was brand new.

I bought an older, new model Super Blackhawk that finish was very poor on. I asked them to reblue it and go over it. They said it needed new springs and some internals as they were below their min. trigger pull. It came back with all new internals and cylinder (it was not free). Looks nice now just gotta go out and shoot it some more once I am finished moving.

I actually had never had a ruger most of my life. I finally gave in awhile back. The gun seemed so well well finished and put together...I've bought 2 more.


So far, haven't needed help.

Actually, I've had to contact Remmington, Mossberg, Smith and Wesson, Sig, and Savage.

None of them let me down.

Mossberg sent me a new barrel and the in a heat shield.

Remmington sent me the part for free.


Savage re-drilled the scope base hole.

Smith and Wesson cleaned up the chamber.

Sig sent me brand new parts and didn't ask for the old ones.
