The outdoor range was open for the first time since November. The temperature was in the 30’s.
I brought the Ruger M77 Hawkeye Long Range Targert 6.5 PRC.
I loaded some Hornady 140 grain HPBT match over IMR 4831. The resulting muzzle velocity was 3,040 fps.
It was hard to see the impacts in the snow, so I confined my shooting to 700 yards. I was able to record a 3-round group while the wind held steady. I measured in the reticle at 0.25 MIL. I later confirmed this by measuring the recorded image and using the size of target as a reference. 0.25 MIL is sub MOA and is about 6.5 inches at 100 yards. I loaded one-at-a-time, so I edited the video for sake of length.
The rifle is 100% unmodified stock. I know custom PRS rigs can do groups about half that size. I’ve seen dudes do this in person. But, this rifle was less that a grand and I’m very pleased with it.
