I bought that model for my wife, paid about the same used. I then bought her red grips from the site below. She likes the look and the gun has been great.

I'm not familiar with these. Can you retro fit a rail to mount a red dot. I'm trying to convert my pistols to red dots and don't have a 22 caliber yet.

It is drilled and tapped for a rail but the rail is not included.
Thank you that's what I wasn't sure about. Still holding out hoping glock will finally make the jump to rimfire.

It’s 3rd party but there is this conversion kit for Glocks.

Any experience with them? I looked into them a while ago and had mixed reviews. I'm not sure if they have gotten better or not.

I thought about it but since the well regarded Mark IV was a similar price I figured dedicated guns would be more fun.
Hard to go wrong with these Ruger‘s. They have been a very successful platform.
BTW I learned this while shopping for it. The 22/45 has the grip angle of the 1911. The regular Ruger has a slightly more pronounced grip angle. Both work well but I like the idea of matching the 1911 since it fells so natural.

Runnings is having a sale on the S&W SW22 Victory @ 299.
It is similar to the Mark series but has a more Luger style grip.
Trigger is supposed to be better than a Ruger.
It comes with fiber optic sights and a Pic rail to mount a red dot.

The SW22 was my first pistol. It is also a great rimfire option. I use it for the Bullseye Pistol club I belong to. Here it is with a Tandemkross trigger, grip and halo. Plus the provided rail and the TRS-25 red dot.
It was a better value that the Ruger since I was comparing it to the stainless version. But takedown on the Ruger is a little better since it is tooless. The SW22 requires removal of one Allen screw.

It is the Tandemkross Halo charging ring. It allows me to “slingshot” the slide forward with one finger. It works well but is the least necessary of all of the upgrades I did.
