Ruger Mark IV-Hunter

Just wanted to show off my latest acquisition--the Ruger Mark IV Hunter (this one was manufactured after the recall so no worries there). Can't wait to try it out. Loving that fluted barrel. So damn sexy, especially in stainless!

Nice! I was looking for a hunter stainless. Endednup with a sweet deal on a Mark 3 22/45, but I will own one like yours someday.

I've got an old MKII with the bull barell.Its a great shooter but taking the MKII apart,more to the point,putting it back together is a royal pain in the ass.The MKIV has an easier way to break down and reassemble.

I shot indoor competition with an Ruger MKII Stainless bull barrel for 10 years. I never found it to be that big of a deal once I got the hang of it.

My very first pistol was Mark II standard model that I inherited from my grandfather. I took it apart and put it back together exactly once. Hence the reason for the purchasing the Mark IV.

It's a bit bittersweet because this will likely be the last gun purchase I make for a long while. I'm trying to get my life in order and will be allocating funds for other items.

I've taken it down a lot,sometimes it goes back in one try,sometimes,I put it back together and cant rack the bolt.Have to take it apart and do it all over again.Just last week I was reassembling and it took about 6 or 8 times.But even at best,its a PIA.I love the pistol,if I thought I'd get a good deal,I'd trade it in for a IV, just for the easier take down/reassembly.

Sweet gun. I've wanted one for years and more so since the IV's came out. Definitely on my short list but like you funds are being conserved for other reasons.

Nice. One of these with the target grips is sitting in a safe* at my FiL's, just waiting on my permit. Sweet shooter, sweet take down.

*Said safe resides in another state.

After installing some volquartsen goodies, my markiii takes all of maybe 30 seconds to assemble. Take down is even quicker. There are a few nice videos out there that really break the process down for you. I kind of wish they would bring the mark ii back into production.

I've had this gun for over 20 years.Have taken it apart countless times.For some reason,I follow all the steps,get it back together and the bolt wont open.Have to start over,and often enough it takes more than two or three attempts.Doesnt do this all the time,but often enough to make the MkIV much more desireable.

Ruger Mark IV Volquartsen trigger job kit

I put a Volquartsen trigger kit and a red dot on mine. Such a pleasure to shoot.

I would say the metal framed models are more popular, and they are supposedly a little better trigger with drop in parts due to lower variance from pistol to pistol from the metal frame. Mine is a 22/45 and it is pretty comfy to shoot. I know I will add a Luger type framed model eventually. This thing is quickly becoming my favorite range toy.

I wound up getting a S&W SW22 Victory from a local "guy stuff" store (Runnings ) on sale for $299.

So far so good.
