Ruger Mini 14

Is anyone else thinking about getting one of these before they go after everything?

Stainless Vs. Blued?
Synthetic Vs. Wood?

Interested to hear if any of you already have one or think it's time to get one of these.

Yes, get one. I'd not be picky about the finish or stock material. You can change stocks anytime and the finish is really only cosmetics IMO.

And while your at it, add a SKS, unconverted Saiga and a currently compliant AR.
Throw in an SA shotgun too.

Yes get one. I went for stainless a little more corrosion resistant and easier to clean. Plus I like the look of the SS with a wooden stock. I had to source the wooden stock since it came with synthetic but they are easy to find.

I sold mine a few years ago and have been wanting another so I say go for it. I’d go with a blued version with the wood stock if that combination is available.

i hate plastic stocks, but blue or stainless are fine
I prefer the newer ones with the Thicker barrel profile!
I have owned both, but only have the newer type now

IMO the odds of a ban on AR-pattern is far more likely than one on Ruger 14.

Or get a $45 poverty pony lower and a mini 14 at the same time.

These seem like unicorns in NY state. I've never seen an anderson available at this price? I see them online sometimes super cheap but with FFL you're still a good $80 out of pocket ?

Yeah I don't care for the synthetic stock, but the newer wood stocks aren't very attractive either. I may order a blued with the synthetic and get one of these walnut stocks down the line. Ruger Mini 14 30 Rifle Stocks Free Float Bedding System

I've been debating on a mini 14 vs a pc carbine. I hate the proprietary mags. I think pc is going to win for me.

Personally I like wood+blued.
If you have the money I would get one now. It's not going to get any easier. Get as many magazines as you can too.

The heck. I just called three local stores, two do not have any lowers, and the one that does is selling an Anderson for $99. smh I'm guessing a fourth one I didn't try has some aeros for about $95 or so. $99 for an anderson! It isn't like I need one, but you know, just for informational purposes

Aero Precision M4E1 is a better option at that price

My Mini-14 (blued and wood) was the first semi-auto rifle I ever purchased. While I probably don't use it as much as my homemade ARs or even my Ares SCR (remember those?!) I like it a lot and it's a solid rifle. I even got the Accu-Strut to help stabilize it more but never installed it.

Get a mini, you will never regret it. I like wood and steel but I knew mine would live a hard life, that's why I got plastic and stainless. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking, just hose it down, dry it off, oil it up and it waits eagerly for another outing.

It's a no brainer. Get yourself a Mini, blued or stainless which ever you want and get a stripped AR lower at the same time.

Mini 14's are just fun to shoot! I've got 3 of them, 6.8 SPC in stainless synthetic stock, the Target model (223 rem) in a Boyd's tactical stock and a ranch rifle (5.56/223) blue in the wood stock.

As I posted above I have 3 Mini's and also the PC9 which is also a blast to shoot, And I have been very happy with it's accuracy even out to 100 yards! Also using Magpul P-mags for a G-17 have worked flawlessly.

I have a newer wood/stainless mini14. What a fun gun to shoot. Not the most accurate though at farther distances 100+ yards.
I did get a PCC9 last spring. Cheap and lots of fun. Not much more recoil than a 10/22.
In the last couple months I’ve bought 2 Saigas. 1 in 7.62x39 and the other in 308. Now these have more bang for the buck especially the 308. Lot more accurate than a mini14

Mini14 is a so so firearm by design. It can be improved but at a cost.
