IMO the odds of a ban on AR-pattern is far more likely than one on Ruger 14.
These seem like unicorns in NY state. I've never seen an anderson available at this price? I see them online sometimes super cheap but with FFL you're still a good $80 out of pocket ?

Rare in my neck of the woods then Though I did manage to find a source selling for $50, most want close to twice that locally.

Went into Blue Line Tactical - didnt have it, but can order it for me - $950

Ordered online - total cost including shipping and FFL fees - $760

I have never really liked BLT (but it was open today so thought I would try!!), but their prices are simply stupid

I have one on my mini and while not ideal and it takes some practice, it is a good way to reload.

I got the Cogburn both as a novelty and as an option should they ban detachable mags. I also bought an accustrut (though not necessary for the newer tapered barrels). It makes it look more M14ish and works as a heat sink.

You know what would be cool, is a parkerized Mini14! Can they parkerize stainless steel? If they can and it isn't too expensive I would consider that for sure.

Parkerizing is illegal in New York, on the scary scale it is only one degree less the black itself. Is this, like entrapment.

And no stainless does not parkerize. That is why you use stainless tanks to parkerize carbon steel parts.

My mini-14 was the first rifle I ever purchased and I've never regretted it. It's blued with a wood stock, just because I like that look. I've put an Accu-Strut on it, a Harris bipod, Nikon 3-9x40 scope, and have a bunch of 30 round magazines. The only thing I don't like about it is that the magazine doesn't remove as smoothly or as quickly as I'd like. Other than that it's a fine rifle. Not as accurate or flexible as an AR-15, but more reliable.

If you get one, be aware that it throws empty cartridges very vigorously, which can annoy people to your right at a range. I have a brass catcher to help with that.

I have a black synth on blue Mini 14 and I can attest to the brass flinging! I was shooting with a friend out his garage door about 5 years back not realizing just where all the brass was going. He still comments every couple months that he is still finding my brass in the far corners of his garage!
