Ruger security 9/pro

I’ve been thinking about a new pistol for a while. I’m just not happy with my groupings on my current mid sized gun. I bought a Ruger LCPII and really like that gun. I shoot it well and it groups great. The LCPII trigger isn’t bad but I’ll upgrade it because I pinch my finger.
I’ve been toying around with the idea of the sig 365, the Wesson DWX compact or the STI Staccato C2 or duo. I know the 2 classes of pistols are very different and would be for carry purposes. The sTuccato c2 is likely out of my price range at $2,400. It’s just more than I want to cough up right now.
Only negative on the rugers is the extremes finish wear IMO and IME.
Looking to get thoughts and opinions. I’m turning 40 this year and want to get myself a gun. Issue I have is with the Wesson or STI I’d have to special order them and not sure how that would work. I can’t think of a fun store around me in Buffalo that would have them in. Pretty hard for me to cough up about $2K before seeing the gun. Also the whole job thing is scary. I doubt my wife or I would lose our jobs but it certainly is an uncertain time right now.
I’ve got the cash in/on hand for either gun mentioned above so I’m not broke just looking for opinions and experiences with any of these guns. I know the Wesson and STI aren’t common so j doubt anyone here would have either. If so I’d love to take a peak at them if that could be arranged.

What is your current "mid size" gun?

Have you looked at maybe a CZ P-01? And since it's a birthday gun maybe look at the Cajun Gun Works P-01

Don’t hate me. It’s the Springfield xd mod 2.0. I bought it before they pulled the gun control BS.
I had new true glow TFO sights installed on it and I think they might be the wrong ones or installed incorrectly. Shoots high and to the left.
I hit more bullseyes and group better with the LCPII. Also my 1911 3.5” .45 I shoot very well too. I’m certainly not the best shooter but the outlier is the Springfield. If it’s me or how the sites were installed not sure. My cousins and my buddy shoot it great.

I have not looked at the cz p-01. I’ll check it out.
Yes it would be a shame if the dwx compact is on hold. That was a really nice looking gun.
I’ve also always wanted a nice 1911. I have a hand me down double stacked para ordnance and I love that gun. It was free.

Got to feed those guns too. Ammo and lots of it is in my future if and when prices drop. I have a good stock but can’t have enough.
I’m just not sure I want to spend $1600-$1800 if I like the LCPII and can get the security 9 for $400. That’s the dilemma.

Buy them both. Less to think about and a win either way.

A couple of things . . .
First, on the XD, if your buddy and cousin shoot it great and you don't, its you. Sorry but that's just how it is sometimes. Years ago I bought a double stacked polymer Kimber (yeah they made em for a couple years with BUL frames) and I couldn't hit squat with it. Handed it to our senior instructor and he rang the bell every shot. The XDs have great ergonomics and function fine . . . To bad about the politics.
Second, these are "unprecedented times" ( yeah I know, so shoot me) so this may not be the best time to drop serious coin, might just stick it aside for emergencies. A Ruger would not be a bad choice for the interim. Or the Sig P365. Don't get me wrong, I have more Rugers than any other brand, but the 365 checks a bunch of boxes for me and maybe you. Great ergonomics for a small gun, different sizes to pick from, 9mm economics, and a great trigger, which that's what it's all about.
A little later when everything calms down you can get that fancy 1911 that you're dreaming about too.

I agree with you about the 365. I havent shot it but I pawed one heavily. I was very surprised how good it felt in the hand for such a small gun.

Me too. That’s what keeps pushing me that way. Can’t beat the price either.

I got some extended mags for the LCPII and love them. I’ve been carrying that for now.
You’re right on the 365 and I like that gun a lot. I just hate the extra mag prices as I think it’s criminal to charge $50-$60/mag. That’s my only hang up.
I will likely do as you suggested since that’s the way I’ve been leaning towards. I just found a a shadow systems MR920 and that gun looks promising too. $1000 for all you get is not a bad deal at all for that gun. I’ve never been a glock fan so glad it’s not a glock.

I really like my 365 better than just about any other gun I have used as a EDC. In the last thirty years I have carried Smith and Wesson J frames, SP101, Glock 19 and 43, XDS45, 1911 of every size, BHP, .380s of many brands, jeez the list goes on. But this is the first time I've been able to blend size, comfort, weight, power, accuracy, capacity and trigger pull in a package that is, dare I say it, perfect. Every other gun had something that was a limitation. J frames are low cap, 1911s are lower cap and heavy, BHPs are heavy and rust prone, SP101s are low cap and heavy, XDS45 are low cap, Glock 19 came close but were still a bit bulky. But this friggin' 365 can almost be pocket carried, 11 rounds of good defensive ammo, better trigger pull out of the box than either Glock, good night sights, higher cap mags available for reloading backup, and a highly reputable company. Hell, it's even better looking than the competition. The thing reminds me of a car I used to own, an Acura Integra. Small, light, fast, nimble, economical, comfortable and nice looking. Upscale but not pricey. On the mags, how many are you going to buy? Comes with two AND night sigbts ($100 value) in a $500 gun. If you buy one or two extra and you pay an extra $10 each (and they are metal!) Eehh. I get it, I've got handfuls of mags for my Glocks, BHPs, ARs, XDs, Minis, etc.
I've been in the business of guns, either using on a regular basis (retired instructor) or just selling them (working for FFLs) for thirty years, owned over 150 different handguns through the years and have fired hundreds of thousands of rounds. For an EDC or backup for LEOs the Sig P365 has got to be the best of breed. And it's only $500 . .

I usually get 4-5 mags total. That’s life though. Have to pay to play. You sold me I think that’s my go to gun for this year. I’ve been toying with buying that gun for 6 months or so now.
I agree it looks great, feels great, the trigger is good, and the size is amazing. I just wish they made an in between the 365 and the 365 XL with a optics mount and then it would be a perfect gun.

What appeals to you more? Length of the barrel or length of the grip? P365 vs p365XL?

I have not seen the XL in person but I would likely do the regular 365. I’d like to see both but all gun stores near me are closed.
