Ruger Super Redhawk

Yesterday i got to shoot a 44 mag Super Redhawk!
what a great gun!
not as heavy as it looks, even with a scope. shoots kinda soft, i was surprised.
very accurate too. Boy are those cartridges huge!

Now imagine shooting the Ruger Alaskan, same size gun except the barrel length is only as long as the underlug on that Super! Wooo doggy. What a riot. Comes in all the heavy big bores too. .44, .454, & 480 super

Same here. I have the 5" version. I like Rugers, but I wouldn't trade my 629 for a box full of them.

well it doesn't compare to the smith 29's build and finish, the only other 44mag i have shot.
the refinement isn't there, but damn if it isn't nice to shoot!

Congrats. I just picked up the Super Blackhawk a month or so ago. Definitely not the gun you hand to an unsuspecting shooter and say "here ya go, squeeze off a few".

The Redhawks are Awesome Guns, I have four of them. An old style Redhawk-7 1/2" 44mag, A Super Redhawk-7'1/2" 44mag, A Older Redawk-5 1/2" 41 Rem. Mag and a Older Redhawk-7 1/2" 357mag. I will be buying one in 45 Colt when I see one at a decent price.

Enjoy your new gun and [pick up some 44 Special ammo for a more pleasant shooting experience. I bought a set of 44spl/44mag dies to reload ammo that suits my needs.

I will also be buying a Ruger 77/44mag to pair up with my 44mag Redhawks.

I did buy a Ruger 77/357mag to pair up with my 357mag Ruger Redhawk and my 6" stainless 357mag GP100.

I'm working up loads for the three 357 guns.

I've had my Super Blackhawk for over 25 years now. It was my go to hunting pistol for almost as long. Everyone that I've handed it to and said " go ahead and touch off a couple of rounds" thought it was a blast to shoot. One thing that I do like about the Rugers compared to the S&W 629 is that the Ruger can handle a much hotter load.

I have a bunch of 357 magnum revolvers, the GP100 - 357 ids by far my favorite shooting center fire handgun.
I like it better then the 686 and the two 586 Smiths that I have. I'm thinking of selling the nickle plated 586 and use that money towards another gun on my want list. The blued 586 has two barrels a 4"and a 6" and is in pristine condition.
The model 64 is a decent shooter.

My second son uses a Glock 20 - 10mm for deer hunting. I bought the same gun, but use it up in the Cascade Mountains for personal defense purposes. I personally know a couple of people who happened upon meth cooking operations while up there hiking. I use to carry either my GP100 - 357mag or my 5 1/2" 41 magnum Redhawk, but switched to the Glock 20 with fifteen rounds of 10mm self defense ammo. If "SHIT HAPPENS" I want enough ammo in the gun to end the situation.

I much prefer revolvers over semis.
