I had the 8-3/8" 500 for some time and decided that its to long + heavy for a sidearm, so I sold it and bought the 4" version.
I like the 4" better. Not much difference in recoil either.
I load 330 grain acme coated plinking rounds for around .60 cents apc and my 350 grn JHP hunting loads for around $1.10 apc.
I bought a shoulder holster and made a Kydex OWB holster for it, as I'm a left hand shooter and I cannot find one in stock anywhere.
Bought two 5 star speed loaders, so now I have extra rounds at the ready, in case a herd of elephants get stupid.
It's a fun gun.

Get a S&W 460 xvr instead. You can shoot 460 mag, 454 casual and 45 colt out of the same revolver. I have one with 8 3/8” barrel. Really fun shoot.

I just had some bad luck and popped a couple tires on my truck. So now instead of buying a new gun, I guess I need to spend a grand on new tires.
