Does that scope mount right up? And yes those big ole hunk of steel stabilize very well. I loaded up some 240gr XTPs fairly hot and my 629 handled them like a champ. At first I had that flinch where I thought my wrist was gonna take a beating, but the recoil wasn't bad at all.The 5” classic series are excellent revolvers. I personally think that they balance the best in your hand compared to both the 4” and 6” versions and the full underlug helps tremendously for stability.
I love mine ! It’s my go to hunting revolver.

Correct, The newer classic models are drilled and taped on the top strap for scopes rails or mounting plates. The older versions like the one that I posted accepts rails and mounting plates using the screw holes of the original sight mount.Excellent deer hunting machine. The newer ones are drilled and tapped under the rear sight channel.
