Traded my S&W 500 for this and a 637 Airweight. The Model 10 in 357 was a one-off for NY State Police. Only a few thousand were made and S&W quickly made a Model 13-2 to replace it. NYSP gave most back. Glad I made the trade.

The model 10 should be a fun shooting revolver, I had one that I bought at a decent price ($149) and got $350 for it on a trade for a Smith 53 - 22RemJet.
Had to buy another so I bought a round butt model 10 police trade in from Buds guns.
The 637 is a nice revolver to carry, I have the 642 and carry it everyday/allday.
You did good on your trade, enjoy the new toys once the weather gets good for you guys.

Do you carry the 642 at the belt line or at the ankle line? I'm thinking I want to do some sort of ankle setup. Right now I am doing a fanny pack with a Colt Officer Series 80. I don't like that setup. I have a nice shoulder setup in comfy suede, but in the summer when its very hot I guess the only solution would be a t-shirt, then the holster, then some sort of Hawaiian shirt. Not in love with that. But the fanny pack is uncomfortable for sure.

I carry my 642 is a nylon sleve in my right front pocket, have carried it these since the day I bought it. With my line of work the 642 is the best for me. I was working 100 hours a week at a dairy farm and recently quit there and am working with a company that builds houses. At both jobs I am always getting crap in my pocket which would jam up a semi and end up in the internals of a regular revolver with an exposed hammer. It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin.
I use to carry a Khar PM9, but decided upon the 642 after having stuff get in the action of the PM9.
If I had a regular job where there wasn't all of the foreign material getting in my pocket I'd carry one of my 40 caliber Walther PPS pistols, I have two of them.
We have open carry here in Washington State so I open carry full size guns with no BS what so ever. I even open carry places that are on the Anti-Gun List.
I have a older Rossi 971 - 357 magnum with the barrel compensator that I love shooting and use mostly as my open carry gun, But I use others as well.
The 971 is an excellent gun to shoot full house 357 loads, I bought it years ago at a pawn shop for less the $200. Never a hiccup in over fifteen years of service in my hands. I see them at the recent gun shows going for $450 to $500. To much for me when you can buy a Smith revolver for that kind of money.
I'll occasionally open carry my 357 GP100, my all time favorite revolver.

Think I will try out the 10--6 today. Got some 357 ammo for it. Hopefully it's a good shooter!

Shot the Model 10 today. Fired two wheels full at 25 yards and it was dead on. Hit the 4" orange rubber reactive square each time. All shots were fired single-action. The trigger was extremely crisp and smooth. Very light though in SA mode. Maybe 3 lbs (give or take)?
