Any examples of easier racking slide systems other than reducing recoil spring weight that requires a lighter recoiling caliber? Not too mention the felt recoil of something more powerful than a 380 is hard for some. If your referring to the grip safety many a 1911s have done fine with them for over 100 years, and so has Springfield. Im I missing something? I dont think the grip safety has anything to do with the ez rack idea.
Let's see even the original 1911 design didn' have the grip safety, that was added because the military has to always do something stupid, and oh and the well it works with such and such 100 years ago is a shit argument.
And as for Springfield. They have nothing to do with the gun line that is made in Croatia other than importing it into the U.S. just because that gun has a grip safety doesn' mean it's a great design. Cause well that line of guns is mediocre at best.
Let's see walther came up with something to combat trouble with racking the slide and made it easier and it' in 9mm, with the ccp or what ever dumb gun it is.

Ok, the only shit argument is that you dont see something is viable for YOU doesent mean that its isnt good for someone else. I have not nor know anyone that has had any issue with a grip safety on a 1911 and in my circle there is a lot of 1911 shooting. I know a few people with Springfields and never a reported issue. So once you get over you ass-ache about the grip saftey thats been proven NOT to be a problem. Whats next the thumb safety that some people like that you dont? They have a model without it too. Then you will say the 380 is weak and will bounce off a t-shirt.
You must never seen small women or elderly try to operate a slide on pistols. I have and a shooting buddy that is 69 years old is concerned about this very issue since it is becoming harder for him to operate the slide on many pistols. He can now but he figures in a few years it may be an issue. Before you start with the shit he need to learn how to operate a pistol... He was using 1911s in Vietnam to defend him self likely before you were born, and well as taking pistol training in some of the most respected shooting schools in the country. Not to mention his years of competition with several different pistols.
With you stated opinions in this thread if you own anything other than a Glock you should be kicked in the balls.

I never got the whole making a gun for the elderly or woman of small stature thing. If you are too weak to even rack the slide how will you grip the gun and handle the recoil?
The entire slide argument is ridiculous... If you can't operate a slide, just buy a wheel gun! Can't handle recoil of higher calibers, then get a .38 or .380...
The grip safety I've never liked! But yes, is personal preference! The thumb safety is no biggie and is automatic when drawing the firearm from holster, so never bothered me. Lastly, it is "fugly"... So no thanks! lol

I quite like my XDS 9mm.
The grip safety has never been an issue. It has the Glock-style trigger dingus safety. I'm glad it doesn't have a thumb safety, which would be redundant on this self defense pistol.

Dont start with the sexest crap its not an unreasonable assumption that a small women does not have the same hand strength as the average man. And for the record I know a couple of smaller women that is is and issue for. I was able to give them some tips on how to grip the pistol and use the strength in 2 hands to help but still not easy with pistols like a Shield 9mm or LC9s. Years down the road when they loose hand strength, get arthritis it could be a real issue. My mother a smaller framed women that is older could not operate the slide on my Shield 9 when I had it even when showed the proper technique. So, there is a reality of difficulty in operating slides wether you believe it or not.
There is a guy that did a marathon without legs so does that mean everyone else should be able to.....
So all BS aside now the pistol has a grip safety a device we can say it unnecessary, but not problematic why are you so against the S&W making it available? It may not be for YOU, but why cant it be OK for someone else?

Oh and I see you have avoided the whole you pose a question about fixing the issue of (apparently) women can't rack handgun slides and how the only way to fix that is by adding a grip safety, or dropping the recoil spring weight down (which we both can agree could lead to reliability issues)

The personal accounts I have had with small women counts. And please point out where I stated that anyone at all cant handle standard sized handguns. Size was of no issue that I saw in this thread. But you seem to read into things in your own way, I guess text color or caps cant help that. I now know, your the guy that knows whats best for everyone. I will no longer consider buying this pistol and will never consider a Springfield. Oh yea I will get rid of my antiquated outdated revolvers and 1911 too. Thanks for the advise....
