I can't legally have a bayonet mount on my AR because that would magically make it an assault weapon. Similarly, a threaded muzzle makes it an assault weapon.

So, if I permanently mount a thread protector, it it commonly accepted that I'm in the clear. What if I permanently attach a bayonet? Unless I'm missing something, the bayonet mount is banned, not the bayonet.

Please discuss!

Why would you want to permanently attach a bayonet? It throws all practicality out the door.

Permanently attach thread protector and file the ears of the bayonet lug and you will be good.

what is the wording of the FUAC ACT ... accepting a bayonet ??? .. or no bayonet mounts ?.. if so on either .. grind them off and welded it on .. it can't accept another LOL ..

BTW with a Mosin with out the bayonet its shoots off by a good foot ... there made and sighted in with with it on .. remove it and barrel harmonics kick in and you could hit your neighbor LOL ..

Just put in a case with a combination padlock on it and forget the combination. Now it is permanently blocked and no longer can accept a detachable magazine or a bayonet.
