This extension of the Safe Act differs from the initial implementation in critical ways, particularly in the broad sweep of the provision concerning proactive/preventive disarming of gun owners who "pose a threat." The vagueness of the language implies that police officers, disgruntled family members/significant others, etc. could all very readily abuse that provision to get your firearms confiscated. There is no indication of what options you would have to defeat the gun grab. Also, the microstamping requirement could effectively chill gun sales in NYS if manufacturers are not compliant.

These bills will do nothing. Micro stamping bullets will only increase cost for us and we will have to get rid of our stock pile by a certain date I'm sure. So that would be disastrous. If criminals can move illegal guns they can move illegal bullets. As for the other ones it's aimed at taking more legal gun owners guns. What's up with the non metal/X-ray detectable guns. I did not know they existed. They are so far reaching at this point it's beyond infringement what will this be considered?

The bullets would not be microstamped at the factory. This bill calls for guns produced after 2018 to microstamp shell casings during the firing process.
