I got this coming for a present to myself. I wanted something small that I can shoot and piss away ammo compared to my rem700. I got the exact same scope for practicing with but my question is do I bother looking to get a muzzle device put on. It comes with just a standard thread cap as its meant for a silencer. Now being in NY I can't get one of these. When I move I figured I could add it then in a few years hopefully. a 22 has almost no kick, no muzzle flash so is it worth spending $50 for a compensator or brake ? I'm not looking for people to go "MAN THATS A FREAKING SICK GUN" I just want to shred paper at 100-200yards and kill the occasional squirrel or wood chuck.

I would leave the cap on and just forget about a device. A muzzle brake or compensator will do absolutely nothing with the .22LR.

No need for a muzzle brake. Actually I prefer any 22 caliber not to be threaded with the standard 1/2" threads.
Many AR's come threaded with 1/2"x28 that leaves very little material left at the muzzle so over time the crown swells.
Not a huge issue for the 22LR but I think the 1/2" threads should have never existed. When I buy a threaded barrel for
a 22 caliber rifle I always look for 5/8x24 standard.
You will also want a decent stock pretty soon so consider the budget rifle ($220) and since the action and barrels are of the same quality
you can put the difference to work towards the new stock. The base is inexpensive. unless you are a very small person the stock
will have to go.
Not huge things but worth considering all depending on how much they want for the tacticool version.
These savage rifles are tack drivers.
hard to beat for the money.

Thanks for the input . I'll wait till I get it but I'll more then likely Change out the stock like I did on my 700. Can't wait to sight her in .
