SORRY about that. I ended the video, I’m glad this conversation wasn’t really political like last time, this wasn’t chaotic and people weren’t cutting eachother off. The teachers at the beginning were loud so I was annoyed there.
Once the group ended the principle who came in at the end said, “hi I haven’t meant you yet, what’s your name?” I say, “Dayten” she says, “okay Dayten, did you record this conversation?” I replied, “yes” she says, “just so you know federal regulation says you have to tell people that you’re recording and they have to give consent” then she walks away. I was going to say the first amendment says otherwise but she walked away. I’m annoyed now, no one pissed me off but her.

NY is a 1-party consent state. Only one person has to know you're being recorded. You don't need anyone's consent for shit.
Yes, and YOU are the one person.
However, the school may have a different policy about recording but that doesnt matter.

Since the principal didn’t say anything about school policy, and stayed “federal” regulations, she’s just talking out her ass.
Not true. I learned that good ol' NY is only 1 party needs to know that an interaction is being recorded. So if you are aware it's being recorded that satisfies this requirement, the other parties do not need to know.

@Dayten need to find out if you can use a external mic on that phone ( directional mic ) ..
your not LAW .. so photo / video ect in public is legal .. you just can't follow a person into a biz to photo them .. cuz you didn't have the intent to to buy there . IE .. so you can follow a teacher all over town .. just don't go into McD's to follow

you can't sell such photo either or use for profit .. without there permission if they can be id'd ..
