School me on game cameras.

I’ve got tons and tons of deer tracks, buck scapes, turkey tracks, and droppings. I want to get timing down. Seems I’m always in the wrong place at the wrong time. I go to this spot and check the other spot and fresh deer tracks or droppings were I wasn’t.
Thinking I need a game camera and that would really help me out. I’m in an area that largely gets no internet service so I guess I don’t need anything fancy.

Trigger speed and battery life are the two biggest things to look for in my opinion. My first digital game camera was a Moultree. It worked pretty well for a while, but then the LCD screen shit the bed. I replaced it and got another year out of the camera, but then one day the camera quit altogether. The images on the SD card were mostly blank. For the three years it did work, I captured all kinds of pictures and videos, but there were a lot of pictures with nothing but a tail because the trigger speed was not fast enough to catch the animal as it entered the trigger area.

Most all of them have time and date stamps, temperature and moonphase. A lot of them can be programmed for time lapse photography. If you want to spend stupid money, you can get them to send pics and video via cell service.

Compare picture quality ( megapixles ), trigger speed ( the faster the better: 1/4 second or faster would be my choice ) and batteries.

By your title, I thought you wanted someone to take you out into the woods and beat the snot out of you. All you want is camera specs? I need to learn to take folks not quite so literally.

Thanks. I’m not really concerned about the camera sending pictures to my cell phone because there is usually no cell service where I hunt. I think it would just be a waste of money honestly.
Thanks for the details on the picture speed I thought about it but didn’t know 1/4 was a good spot. The one I was looking at had a .72 second sitter speed. That makes a lot of sense honestly.
I saw some had crazy battery requirements like 8 batteries or something nuts like that. Oh well it’s the price of doing business I guess.
