Scope Rings?

Sold off a gun or two this summer and bough a new CZ 600 American in 308. And just ordered a Meopta scope to mount on a rail. All made in the Czech Republic...I went with a theme.

Anyway, now shopping for rings. The scope is a one inch tube with a 44mm objective. The rifle will see more time at the range than the woods.

Any suggestions? I've been looking at Warne and Vortex.

The Warne Rings (at least mounted to their Bases) are the tightest, best fitting of all I've used: (Leupold, Burris, Weaver, Redfield, Chineasium, etc.)
The Dovetail/Dual Dovetail Rings and Bases are mostly made by one company and repackaged for other Brand Names.
You've got a fine Rifle, well respected scope, don't cut corners now with cut-rate mounts, and as for steel v. aluminum: there isn't significant weight between the two, but Steel is much stronger than aluminum and less likely to deform.
Does your Rifle have Integrated Picatinny Scope Bases?
Understand that there IS a difference between the traditional "Weaver" Rings/Bases and "Picatinny" The difference being Weaver uses a round screw that will mount on Weaver and Picatinny Bases, but can/will move, where as Picatinny Rings have a square, keyed underside that closely fits the machined slots, they are also a slightly different size than Weaver.
Which, and whatever you choose, I strongly recommend making sure they say "Picatinny" and they'll be rock solid on the Rifle.

Do yourself a favor. If you have the money go with TPS. Your choice if aluminum or steel. They are heads above the rest in precision. Seekins are probably just as nice, but heavier.


Warne is okay, but TPS is just way nicer. Follow the torque specs to the T.

There's an aluminum version that's a little light if you want that.

I`m assuming your CZ has a tapered barrel, not a fat target barrel. Go with Warne or Vortex in Medium height, should be good to go. Pay close attention to the torque specs set by the scope maker so that you don`t crush the scope tube. Your owners manual may give you the torque spec for the picatinny rail mounting screws. Warne will also have the rail torque specs too. Check rail screw depth so that you don`t interfere with cycling the bolt.

Hey, good points all. Yes, tapered barrel. No sights, so I got a steel Picatinny (also made in Czechia) for scope mounting...the rear screws are longer than the front ones ( the receiver is patterned for Remington 700 stuff). Yup, medium height should work...and I'm thinking steel over aluminum.

I understand that the better Vortex rings are made by Seekins. Still waiting for the scope to arrive, got a good price on it and had to swoop.

Wow, lots of nice rings out there...crazy money for the better ones. I'm kind of leaning towards Warne.

To quote a former sniper, you can have the best scope out there but if the rings suck so will the scope.

Yup, they can get very pricey for better quality.
Most rings and bases i use are Warne. Damn good rings for the money. On my more expensive tools, i use Vortex or Seekins "matched" rings.

The TPS look like a cross between Leupold Mark 4 and Weaver Quad Mount Rings...Never heard of them, but would certainly try a set.
While I have nothing more than empirical observations, I wonder if there's one or two companies that actually manufacture Rings (with minor variances) and they are packaged by name Brand Optics Companies, and I don't mean the cheap, cheezy aluminum rings from Chy na.

Looks like TPS rings are kaput. And the Seekins website is a no-go for 1 inch tube.

Sadly it looks like you are right. I better hold onto all of mine.





Another one I like is Talley. I have their rings on a vanguard with a vx-3.
