But . . . My preferences are smaller shorter range, variable power scopes. Nikon has a couple of ones, P Tactical (under $200) and M Tactical ($250ish) that fit the bill for me. Good quality and affordable.
The P Tactical is right around $189 but for low end you won't find much of a discount.

No link as I'm on my phone but I have a Vortex Crossfire II on my quasi-scout rifle in 308 and it is perfect for 50-200 yards. 2x-7x. Came with the rifle but I think retails about $150.

If you are looking for a scope not to break the budget. I suggest Primary Arms, I do testing for them and a few other companies. Hands down primary arms is amazing for the price. Its made in the same facility as vortex the designer of the PA optics owns ACSS, which creates reticles for nearly every manufacturer on the market. All of my instructors run PA glass when it comes to magnification. 1x6 $275 1x8 $350. We have been abusing these optics for over a year now. Hit me up if you want more info.

Find a used redfield revolution or leupold VXI or VXII on ebay. Can probably get it for under 150 (especially if you time it with one of ebays 10-20 percent off deals). American made, unconditional warrenty.

Dont need tactical turrents for 99% of ar15 shooting, and you save a bunch of weight.

For $100ish...

Nikon bdc at cabelas. Its the older prostaff body with the newer bdc reticle.

Other than that, a primary arms mirco dot.
