They were trying to serve another person...did this person also have a warrant on him ? Sounds like he was sitting in a car and was asked to exit his car . Did he foolishly exit the car holding the gun to show the police he had a gun and did not respond quick enough to a command . ? Most of us here with a handgun have investigated the situation of what to do at a traffic stop while you have a handgun in the car,...was this a case of this person never had this information . ? ... I try to keep up on the laws, and to my knowledge, even in states with open carry, you are required to have a handgun holstered, or, in the case of a long gun, to have it slung over a shoulder. Carrying either one in your hand in public would be beyond foolish, and essentially brandishing. If the video confirms what the police are saying, he paid the price for his actions.

If LEO's tell you to drop it, and you don't, I think that would constitute a threat of deadly force, and any LEO would be justified in firing at that point.

Similar thing to my mind on the Tulsa shoot. I remember watching the video years ago of Officer Kyle Dinkheller who was killed by the guy who disobeyed his orders, and went back to his car, pulled out a 30 carbine, and murdered the cop. It was all caught on video.

Yeah, that was it. He was acting goofy while disobeying the officer, and then reached in his pickup truck, pulled out the 30 carbine. He engaged in a running gunfight with the officer, and then killed him at point blank range as he lay there gurgling blood.

I've read that PD's across the country use that video as a training tool as to why to not let someone disobey your lawful commands and return to their vehicle.

It seems to me that if Obasturd wanted to actually do something useful, he could do a public service commercial about how to behave during a traffic stop and thereby greatly reduce your risk of being shot. Kind of like the gag public service announcement they did of Plaxico Burris on how not to shoot yourself.

They were serving warrants that day. Their sole mission was to locate those who had them. They pulled up on Scott's car and observed for a period of time. From their car computer, they had a description and picture. Mr. Scott met the description. As far as the coppers knew, he was the guy they were looking for. When they approached the car of the subject, Mr. Scott exited the vehicle with a gun in his hand.

Whether the Police had the correct suspect is moot, the driver had a gun in his hand when he got out of the car. He refused commands.

If he would have listened to commands, showed ID, the police would have known they had the wrong guy and probably would have bben on their way.

Mr. Scott would be alive today.

1 cop, 1 perp. Cop pulled driver over for speeding, suspect disobeys officer, goes back to vehicle, lowers hands, pulls out M1 rifle, cop gives him way too many chances to put it down. A shootout finally occurs, suspect got hit multiple times, cop hit wayy more, suspect executes him as he's lying on the ground with a final kill shot to the right eye.
