This whole debate about nothing of substance is typical of American politics. Just like flag burning. When was the last time our flag was burned in protest in our country (excluding when it was done just for the sake of this debate). People simply don't do it, because it will draw a negative attention to their cause. It's easy for both sides to stand up to defend none issues. Straw man politics.

Happens all the time. You forget that the left half of the country *hates* America and will burn flags just because it pisses decent Americans off.

We don't know who was burning it and for what purpose. Protests are infiltrated all the time, especially when violence is anticipated. This is not something that is done by people who organize a protest.

I think it's highly unlikely that "flag burning is a 1st amendment right" protesters infiltrated this other left wing protest about police accountability.

It seems far more likely to me that the people who were protesting the cop's acquittal decided that burning the flag would piss off the people they don't like, and the people they do like would see it positively.

If that was the case, they're not wrong.

I disagree. I think the lefties really hate America, and they think this expression of that hate is actually virtue signaling.

A lot of what we think makes them look bad, they think makes them look good.

If they ever vote to replace "In God we trust" with "Allah Akhbar" on the money, what's printed on the money will be the least of our worries, and anyone spending any time fighting it is directing their effort at the wrong battle.

That's like worrying that the firemen are going to track mud on your carpet while they are putting out your fully involved structure fire.

No, trust me , I get the whole "don't they have better things to do" line. But considering even we have time to discuss this on an open forum, I'm speaking only on the philosophical side of things.
