We know who is going to be the continued governor so why stress.
Who here's has went the 6.8spc route? Post em up, what do you like, dislike, etc etc.
Decided I really don't need my Axis 22-250 and I'd much rather have a 6.8 upper. Between that and my 5.56 upper they will both do anything I need.
I'm still milling over if I'm going to get everything for a complete upper, or strip my 5.56 upper for the time being until I gather up enough to reassemble that one. Guess it depends on whether I find a new owner for the Axis or not.

Go with 6.5 Grendel. Its superior in pretty much every way and you can buy cheap steel case ammo.

Pretty much everything I've read shows the Grendel doesn't come into it's own until around 4-500yds, and having a 22" barrel. The 6.8 stays with it until then with a 16" barrel. Way bigger selection of component bullets too.

Very good round. A proven meat factory. the 270 bore has some great hunting bullet selection.
Very efficient in barrels from 11" to 16"-18"
design with the size and shoulder for heavy duty use so it feeds a lot easier than the grendel and the 6.8 bolt is stronger.
I have both and few others but the 6.8 remains a favorite of mine for the average use and carbine size barrels.

No it isn't. This is a good "apples to apples" comparison - same barrel length, similar projectile weights and factory ammo from Hornady. The 6.8 starts with more velocity and energy but falls behind between 300 and 400 yards. At 400 both cartridges are getting close to the edge of what is normally considered ethical rifle hunting velocity and energy.

Your second post pretty much says it all.

Mine is an 18" and any qualms I have are with the gun, not the caliber. It's my first AR and I'll definitely do things differently for the 16" spiral fluted 6.8 barrel that is in the project queue. I'm going lighter with just about every component, it'll be featureless, use QD instead of a sling swivel and probably wear a Vortex PST 1-6 Gen 1. Both barrels are from AR15 Performance but unfortunately he doesn't carry target crown barrels anymore.

This is the second of two mature bucks I've taken with my 6.8. Both were under 100 yrd shots. This guy went about 50 yards and dropped within sight. I broke the back of the first buck and ended it with a neck shot. Both used 110gr Accubonds and both were pass-throughs.

@ManrisFrack Nice looking buck. Last good 8pt I took was with my handgun, 209x50 Encore.
As for my AR, I'm stuck with the 5.56 this year seems I didn't get started on another upper yet. Been a hectic year.

Thanks. That's a few years old now. I've been giving my other guns a chance but I've had poor gun seasons the past few years (on a streak with bow though). I think the 6.8 will be back out this year. Time is getting short, it's the closest to being ready and I trust it.

Not the same, but Bushmaster is chambering the ACR in 6.8.

Hell, I should probably also add a couple 80% lowers to my list on need to buy. Something with no paper trail. Thought about buying a couple in the past from online retailers but figured if push come to shove they would release a purchase history for anyone. The way NY is I can see that happening.
