There is nothing in the Constituion to allow for a State to exit the Union (see U.S. Civil War), they can vote all they want... If anything would be close, it would take a vote same as entering, to expel a State, or grant Secession IMO. We all know that'll never, ever happen, except by force, and in that case, no state would stand against the other 49 (currently). They COULD make another State though from the State as the precedent exists.

It appears that Gov. Jerry Brown understands that his liberal, progressive, leftist state is not in line with the rest of the country:

While part of me wants to applaud this, I think it would be a serious mistake to start ripping apart the United States.
Once one State goes, others will follow. It would be the end of the US. There could be 50 different little Country's in our great land that we call home.

I think California is arguably the most beautiful place in all of the USA. I wanted to move there when I was younger for years and years, and it's just too bad that a majority of people there have destroyed what could be an awesome place to live. I no longer want to live there unless major changes are made. I don't believe there will be unfortunately.

I agree. I went to grad school there and I loved how beautiful it was and the climate is perfect for me. Sadly, the politics and expense of living there aren't so pretty.

I have this reoccurring dream that Calibfornia secedes from the union. All of the progressive lunatics swarm there from around the country and the conservatives all make a hasty escape to friendlier locales. Then "tragically" the big one hits and sends all of the haters to Neptune's liar and my time share in Vegas is instantly ocean front. Now that's what I call a dream with a happy ending!!!!
