If you like shades of brown then maybe it is the most beautiful place. My four years of living there was enough. As the the most beautiful place in the USA, not politically speaking, is right here in CNY.

California's dry climate is quite ugly to me too. I like green mountains with rivers and lakes and endless forestry.

Yes. And I don't want or need your sympathy. I have had a good life in CNY in and about the Finger Lakes, Adirondacks, Mohawk Valley and more. These places hold great beauty to me and many others. I should feel sorry that you can't see what is around you but I don't.

I've lived in upstate NY my entire life. I have some experience site seeing, but I think you're right, I don't think I really appreciate it anymore. I wish I could get excited about the dead plants for 5 months and the dark cloudy cold days. I could go on about what I hate, but that's just what we're in store for now. I think it's great that you enjoy living where you do. Maybe I just wish I just enjoyed living here too. Hopefully one day I can get the hell out before my youth is gone forever.

I was born in CA, and I'd take that climate ANY DAY over NY.

There is nothing in the Constituion to allow for a State to exit the Union (see U.S. Civil War), they can vote all they want... If anything would be close, it would take a vote same as entering, to expel a State, or grant Secession IMO. We all know that'll never, ever happen, except by force, and in that case, no state would stand against the other 49 (currently). They COULD make another State though from the State as the precedent exists.

Norcal (oakland, San jose, San Francisco, berkeley, Napa etc...) is the biggest cesspool of liberal idiocy in the country. I guess far north in California away from the cities they are regular people much like ourselves their state politics are controlled by the bay area/norcal and so cal. The extreme northern area wants to leave California and part of southern Oregon wants to join them and make the 51st state of jefferson, which presumably would be normal.

As huge of an economy as California has they cannot manage their money, tax revenue and social spending. For being such a massive economy it's remarkable they operate at a deficit in most places.
