Did you ask Andy for pricing ?
If I can get even ONE POE NVR camera working, I'll ask him next.
I did not, but I probably will now that I'm pretty sure what I'm getting.

Good job, all great cameras. I would contact Andy to see if he has better prices like @CaseHardened said. Are you using Blue Iris?Alright, I think I'm going to get three different cameras and see what I like/works best at different locations. Both fixed and varifocal as well as the gamut of resolutions. They're more expensive than I had hoped but the effort doesn't make much sense to me if all I end up with is video of human-like shapes.
EmpireTech IPC-HDW5231R-ZE
Loryta IPC-T5442TM-AS 3.6mm Fixed

I can definitely see myself putting up more than 4 cameras before all is said and done. In light of that, I'm going to go with an 8 P0E port switch. Thinking this one: TP-LINK 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Poe+ Unmanaged
Thoughts? @NYGuns
I'm going with:
At least ONE highly visible camera.
At least ONE inaccessible camera (roof).
At least ONE hidden camera.
Unlikely that a junkie will target all three.
And if they do, I'm doing real-time Cloud Backup on all of them.
Uh, yeah, that's weird. I mean I guess false advertising happens, but damn. How bad is it?
The Amcrest 4K connected to that NVR was worse than my $60 Netvue Wireless.
Anyhow, I already received a refund and expect one of their 41 Series tonight.
ALL Amcrest cameras SUCK! They are absolute garbage cameras and should be returned immediately while you still can. Anything you own that is Amcrest that is still within the return period should be sent back. Stick with Hikvision and Dahua like @Cleck said.
Yes, but it's b/s. Kind of like people who don't know guns making gun laws. People who don't know the tech are making people scared for no real reason.Isn't Hikvision one of the ones potentially sending info to China? I know there was some big hoopla about government agencies having to switch them out but not knowing what cameras were affected.

That's an older model, not their 2.0 model. Get this instead https://www.amazon.com/IP-Cam-Talk-Recorder-IPCT-NVR3208-8P-I2/dp/B07MGPLFK5/

Yes, but don't waste your money chasing megapixels. In reality, 4K (8MP) has worse night time video compared to a 4MP starlight. However, always good to get a NVR that supports upcoming tech and higher MP.It supports 12MP.
Do those cameras exist ?
At this point, I'm not that concerned w/ my nvr, mainly because I am just viewing everything through BI right now. Guess I should swap over that hard drive, hahaha
BI ?
Does anyone know what strain relief/hoods are used on the camera end of the ethernet line? I probably just don't know the right search term but I can't find anything that has that locking mechanism.
I've just assembled all the items I need to mount my 4K on the roof, on a pole. With CAT7 Cable.
But yeah, just plugging it in without weatherproofing or locking does concern me.
I was thinking of wrapping the junction with Silicone Self-Fusing Tape.
I found these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VKP2RKC/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=APXVIUGFEK7IK&psc=1
It looks like they should work but I'm not sure. At $7 for a set of ten, I think I'll give 'em a try.
ETA: Damn things are gonna take 3-6 weeks to arrive.
Finished RJ45 modular CAN NOT pass through the cover
Deal breaker for me.
Yes, I have terminated dozens of CAT 5 Cables, but it is finicky work that I just can't get interested into doing right now.
And I'm not sure if CAT7 requires special tools.
